It's just generally fashion headphones that get voted into the ground. I've seen a few mid priced headphones get quite hot. Klipsch Image One's are essentially on par with those 'Fanny Wangs' (oh god) and can be had for under £70:

Like I've said in a few threads though, for those sized headphones and a budget of under £120ish I'd go for Audio Technica ATH-WS55i.

Beats are just ridiculously overpriced for what they are. For around £200 you could get some AKG K 701's. And they look pretty bad ass in my opinion

£275 after the 21% price drop? I stick to my £40 Sony X-Bass MDRs thank you.

For that money I'd get some Bowers & Wilkins P5s...

For that money I'd get a stereo?!?!?!?!?!?

Beats headphones are for chavs

And also made in Austria, from good materials not from a sweatshop in china with cheapo plastics The beats kinda look like a 20quid pair of Sonys with a sticker on the side...Hmm now there's a thought

I have a pair of these AKG701's. I hear things I have never heard before in cd's I have owned for years! Thing is that they are open back so everyone else hears what you are listening to with ease. Also they are very light but very big. I would not wear them outside the house for fear of looking a t**t ! I actually tried beats and found them to be comfortable, but they colour the sound too much for my taste. Thought they looked good though. Looks are not enough to justify the price for me though.

Freeze is almost as big as the price

I heard these and the Solo HD in HMV, totally underwhelming for what I am used to (Sennheiser, Grado, Denon) but if you really must have something that looks cool (not that those don't) check these out:

The V-Moda Crossfade M-80's are supposed to actually sound good too (according to audiophiles, not marketing). They are metal construction too, unlike the Beats and are also closed backed. Check reviews here:

Seems to be a lot of good headphones coming out of America lately, just not Monster crap.

I have a pair of these which in my opinion, not only look the part but the bass is sooo deep on them.

HUKD rule #1- Do NOT post a Beats deal!

I think it is good to keep posting them because it is an educational aid for people who may otherwise not know any better and make the mistake of buying them. As soon as they see all the sub zero deals and maybe read some of the comments it will put them on a better path.

I say keep posting and help spread the word just how bad they are.

As in very cool

Please make it stop...

I bet about 98% of beats owners have either never compared the headphones with others, bought them for the high price to show off, as a part of "fasion" or bought them because of a sale price...

The other 2% would be made up of all the people who had to get them for free or as a gift. I.E Dr Dre's family.

Just to play devils advocate

t3.com/rev…iew

Most of the articles written in T3 magazine just take stock photos and copy the guff written on the manufacturers web site, i.e. most of the time they never touch or see the product.

Any way these beats are clearly sub zero, so if you want cool headphones they are for you.

I got my pros for £193 which is a great saving off RRP and build quality played a part. They are very sturdy due to being aluminium. Now I'll just wait for people to lay into me

Not really laying into you, but you did not mention sound quality at all in your reasons for buying..... interesting.

CHEEPSTUFFRULES!

Sorry, forgot to mention, I like bass heavy songs and these seemed very good for the job!

Ughhh I can't even begin to think of having a fanny wang on my head....

How did you manage to get them that cheap?

PC World online a while back. Black pair were priced at £230 odd and they had 20% off headphones at the time so came in at that price. Definitely worth that price but would never pay over £200 for them.

TBH these are great headphones for what they are intended for, Studio - DJing and the likes. Pottering around the house with these on or around the town the. FAIL, I had the pleasure of trying these out this week while djing and the noise cancellation and sound quality was immense. My mate gave me a pair of his Beats for free, so from a DJ point of view these WIN.
