£23 for a small metal box doesn't sound like a good deal, sorry
Played the beta and wasn't too impressed with it, BUT, if the tin comes with some custard creams and jammy dodgers in it I might be tempted...

What else does this come with? or is 23 quid for a tin considered a deal these days??

I mean, I'd love the deluxe edition, Monster Hunter is amazing once immersed, but ... so much for a tin?
over £20 for a tin case, sorry but on what planet is this a deal?

like most of these steelbooks a few weeks after launch they will be selling for around a fiver

I thoroughly enjoyed the beta -- as a long-time MH player, this game is shaping up to be more than I could have hoped for. And it's helped me encourage a few newcomers in to the series too.

This much for a steelbook version is ludicrous though. Go with the standard version unless this comes down significantly in price.

Same here, finally got my actual friends into it over 10 years later haha
Makes Game's "deals" for steelbook covers (no game included) look good!
Outrageous price. ❄
I thought the beta was rubbish, the areas where very small and finding the monster was easy, you did not even need to track it as the area was so small and when it runs off you can tail it easily again without the need to track it.
The beta was nothing short of amazing. Played every MH for 100's of hours and World is looking at the moment to bring some much needed updates to the aging gameplay. It's not to everyone's tastes but it's shaping up to be an absolute must have for any MH fan.

The lobby system in the beta isn't representative of the full game. They've demonstrated the in-depth multiplayer functionalities multiple times in gameplay videos (friend invites, joining on-going quests, etc). Graphics are a bit crappy with all the frame drops, pop-in and poor view distance, but still, this is such a major upgrade over the previous titles so I am content. Also the clipping is atrocious as always.

The gameplay/combat of this series has always been excellent. The skill ceiling is quite high, so I wouldn't call the mechanics simple. What's simple is the game's concept: hunt, craft, hunt again.

Anyway, I can see how people that don't know much about the game/series will be turned off by the beta. The time limits are frustrating, there is no progression, no friend invites, etc. Even so Monster Hunter definitely is a polarising game but like others I managed to get a few friends into it for the first time and we had plenty of fun.
More importantly, someone find a good deal so I can pre-order this damn game!

The interest from non Nintendo players has always been there. It was a PS2 and PSP exclusive for years only the last few entries have been tied to Nintendo. The format of the game has never been updated at all really from the 1st game so the changes to fans are massive and incredibly significant.
Beautiful steelbook, god awful game
Played the beta for about five minutes (after waiting about 15 for all the players on my group to finish faffing about) couldn't get on with it! Thank god for betas and demos

Spend 6 hours preparing for a quest and 1 hour doing it. This is the MH way.

Ummm... Not quite sure the area was THAT small! I've played the beta both times and will definitely be playing the 3rd and final beta this week, not sure which beta you think you played but remember the word "beta" is the qualifier here!
Just because you were lucky enough to have picked the right camp to start at, therefore finding the Monster you needed for the quest quite quickly, doesn't mean the area was as small as you're making it out to be, I've played every single version of Monster Hunter available, I'm a massive fan of the entire series, the MH World version is SO much better than any previous ones, fps drops might be a problem but again, the qualifier is "beta", you can't expect a perfect experience for any beta, that's why they're called a beta "test" version!
I'm not sure what a lot of people's problem is on here, the game itself hasn't been released yet, the version people are saying they played and was "terrible" was only a beta test version, clearly a beta test is just that - a TEST - not a full version or demo, in other words, the FULL version will be so much more and SO much better, they have to leave out certain parts of the full version, especially considering that the beta was only really released to test server load capacity, you're all giving this game a bad name before it's even been released! Come on people!

I don't think it's fair to blame the game itself instead of the idiotic players, there's always some players out there who ruin things for others, unfortunately the beta doesn't allow you to kick these players like the full version will do, so to say that the game is awful just for that reason is beyond unfair, the game imo is a masterpiece compared to the previous versions, but again, remember the word "beta" is in there for a reason!

I honestly don't think the other people on here appreciate that the game they've played upto this point is only a beta version, and they've clearly never played any version of MH before and have all rage quit before they really started, at least I see one other sane person on this page!

The maps were small. I should not have to compare it to the handhelds versions. this is a power house console version and coming off the back of Horizon Zero Dawn, these maps are tiny.
