Need to remember to check.

It may be prudent not to vote on this until you've seen the sale prices......

Time and time again, members vote these pre-sale notices hot then post messages to say they wish they hadn't once the lack of sale items becomes apparent.....

Voting on the tip really and it's a good tip to check out the site tomorrow. No proper place now to post tips.

Thanks for the heads up.
I lurve Play.com sales.

Voted hot for the heads-up!

I'll be quite glad if the sale turns out to be pants as I've spent a fracking fortune at play already in the last month. I curse the day I stumbled across hotukdeals.com, as it's paradoxically cost me a bloody fortune in savings made!

i hope this is a good sale with loads of stuff included

These "massive sales" do tend to be the same old stuff, but I remember Play's sale starting this time last year and there was some good stuff in it. I ordered loads, and it was even delivered on the last postal day before Christmas!

Thanks for the heads up.I lurve Play.com sales.

I hateplay.com sales, they always make me spend so much money! :whistling:

I'm hoping the sales this year, on play.com or anywhere else really, start including HD DVDs and Blu Rays, it's about time the prices started falling for them and we saw some deals from discount retailers like play.com. Paying £18+ per film really grates, especially when you see the SD version for a fiver!

good tip off - thanks!

I love the Play.com sales - usually pretty good! Thanks for the tip OntheBallcity

dont play usually hike the price up and them discount them again to make it look like a masssive saving?

Will be interesting to see what they have to offer.

Original Poster

hope they have some ps3 games on offer as i only have 3 ps3 games

Most, if not all retailers do that, so in effect most "sales" are a bit of a con. How many things have you ever seen sold at the quoted RRP? Its the same thing really....:whistling:

Still you may be lucky as Play do some very low prices so it is worth a look for the odd bargain here and there!

PS Does it start at midnight or tomorrow morning?:oops:

can't wait! does it start at 00:00 midnight?

My recent experience with play has turned me off them for now, :x ordered a 360 for a present in plenty of time for xmas that was listed in stock only after phoning 3 days later the guys told me it wasn't and ordered another one, 3 days later phone up guy said it had been returned even though it hadn't been delivered, ordered another one, tracking number on-line told me that one had been delivered to a guy 50 miles from me??, had enough phoned up and cancelled order, checked on-line 3 hours later and found out they'd dispatched one 2 hours after I'd cancelled the order, still waiting to see if it turns up in time!.
Don't think I'll bother with any more hassle from them at any sale price until after the Christmas/new year chaos.

usually there are a few gems in their sales...still remember when they did rainbow six vegas for £17.99...at the time that was a crazy bargain

Nice one - thanks for the heads up. :santa:

No, what play do is have page after page of 'sale items' which have been that price for months anyway. But they always have a handful of stuff that is discounted for the sale that was higher in price before.

thanks for the heads up

always pretty good

better than hmv who never seem to deliver anything

Cheers for this.

No doubt we'll see Wii games for a fraction of the price I paid play on Monday!

Just to give a bit of balance I ordered a couple of things from Play for Christmas and they sent the wrong product. Royal Mail then lost the return somewhere between my house and their van (all of about 20 feet!). Chased it up with Play and their attitude was "it's not your problem" and they sent me a replacement out the next day.

I can only speak as I find but up to now they have been reasonably reliable and very cheap.

I hope this is true.

Ordered quite a few item off Play.com recently, their price are great, the process and dispatch are fast, but I found the problem laid within Parcel Force 24 service. Their (parcel force) services recently are extremely slow ( i know it is Christmas time), 24hrs parcel arrived a week late, tracking system is useless (never got updated, can't really tack it, some only appeared on the system after the parcel are signed for) and some item arrived with damaged box. Anyone have the same appalling experience recently or just me?

anyone know what time it starts or do we have to assume it starts at 0001 tomorrow

Cheers for the heads up must get in early they usually have a few wee loss leaders to grab the headlines;-)

The only time you ever see stuff for sale at RRP is in the duty free shop at the airport! That's why them shops are always empty.

Banned

You might not get the items until after Christmas anyway. So you should compare the prices with those expected for items in the post-Xmas sales, not the pre-Xmas prices.

I bet there will be loads of small sized T-shirts in the sale.

RRP - Recommended Rip-Off Price.

Yup never seen most things at RRP on decent sites.

if there's any stuff i've already bought ...reduced in the sale...it's going back pdq.

The Play.com sale is usually mediocre at best. A couple of bargains but most of it is ****.

They usually start marking the prices down the evening before the sale starts, so if you find a very good price on something later on this evening, it's probably gonna be part of the sale.

The sale page tends to go live at around 8am.

I ordered a thermal image Da Vinci Code mug in the sale last year. Half way through an enjoyable brew I realised they had sent me the standard cup, as opposed to the one with the thermal image. Rang them up and explained their error and pointed out that it was now 'used'. To my surprise, I was simply told to wash and return it in the original box 'as new', so it could go back into their stocks. Had quite a heated discussion about ethics with them and ultimately opted to keep the cup, rather than allowing them to recirculate it.

Think I will stick to DVDs and gadgets this year!

wouldn't it be funny (not) if they had DS at discounted prices? Although my guess is that these will certainly be discounted, perhaps with game bundles, after xmas. You might consider giving a play.com gift voucher (sent to their email address or yours so you can print it out) to a loved one for xmas so that they can take advantage of sale prices...

I ordered from Play sale the same time last year and it was a boost cause all the stuff arrived before Xmas. Great to receive half price prezzies before Xmas.

I'll defo be checking this sale out. Thanks

I can't really see them giving big discounts on things like Wii or DS games, cos surely they'll sell them at normal price anyway? Especially before Xmas.

Looking forward to HUKD during the January sales, though!
