Down from £249.99 the Montane eVent Air Jacket's value comes from it's incredible ability to be extremely lightweight, yet superbly protective and breathable. It will be hard to find another mountain jacket like this, that will protect you in the same way and come in such a lightweight package.

The eVent Super Lightweight 3 Layer fabric weighs just 310 grams and is waterproof to a minimum of 30,000mm hydrostatic head with a minimum MVTR of 16,000g/m²/24hrs.

The Jacket also comes with many adjustable luxury comfort features, such as a Roll Away Helmet Hood with Wired Peak , strong and adjustable to your needs, protecting your face further from the elements. A Mesh-Lined Chest Pocket is also featured, with a large storage space to keep your essential items or maps secure.

There are also Elasticated Face Aperture Draw Cords and Adjustable Draw Cord Hem to pull the garment tight and secure for when conditions get tough.

The eVent fabric also contains a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) as the first barrier to keeping you dry. A treatment coating added to the outer layer which makes clothing water resistant. When combined with waterproof fabrics such as eVent, then this prevents the outer layer from becoming saturated, maintaining your garments high level of breathability and extending it's product life.

Quality jacket voted hot.

If only it came in a decent colour, otherwise very nice..

Superb quality.Hot

Nice to see a quality eVent® jacket get hot.

tempted, even though still pricey.

A cheaper option, that looked very good to me for the £, if your not a brand snob is this Karrimor Alpinste. Some good reviews also. Same eVent fabric and well put together.

Be careful buying anything from Sportdirect/Fieldandtreck. Karrimor is Mike Ashleys own brand and very poor quality.
Best alternative is to find a Rab jacket.

Are you sure it is the same fabric? The Karrimor weighs over twice as much. I know both are eVent but I know there are different types of Goretex so maybe different types of eVent. As a hiker I would pay the £30 more for a jacket of half the weight (which will spend most of the time in the pack).... and save the time trying to work out whether the Karrimor is one of the good ones or bad ones in the range with generally declining quality.

Again, i agree, that was only reason i didn't buy it. I would love the RAB Drillium eVENT Waterproof Multi Activity Jacket to be honest.

sportshoes.com????

where on earth do these sites come from.

I swear if I set up a site called whupadedooda.com and slapped a jacket on there with the text "RRP £250, now £100" after I bought them off dave in the pub for £2 each, then put it on hukd, people would go crazy for it.

Actually might just try it. Where's Daves number.

Only Rab? So no point even considering Mountain Equipment, Paramo, Haglöfs, Mountain Hardwear, or any other decent outdoor brand? As much as I like Rab, they are certainly not the only option for mountain gear.

Incidentally, there are actually some good reviews coming through for the higher end Karrimor kit, as opposed to the generic s&!?e that they slap the brand name on.

The cheap Karrimor jacket mentioned by you has no comparable relevance to anything.
Sorry if you don't understand.

Sportshoes was the largest sports shop in the world at one point as a kid my mum would take us over to Bradford to check out the merchandise, they have a rich heritage. Which I.m sure a look at the website or google would show

TBH I looked at the original Alpiniste and it was a class above the majority of the Karrimor gear you get at Sports Direct, and for the money looked good value.
