I’ve just seen an offer from O2 & Monzo and it looks great! (www.o2.co.uk/students). You skip the 3 week Monzo queue and get £30 credit free when signing up (as well as the regular student 20% off airtime) if you get a new O2 Refresh contract and follow the steps.

Whaaaa, freee money!!!!!

Shame I'm not a student anymore
Just seen monzo are starting to charge for ATM withdrawals next year, bit of a shame as I'd just got a card because revolut do that after £200/m.
On holiday right now and I can say the monzo card is the best. Instant notification on your phone when you make transactions and bare in mind to pay in the currency of the country you are in as the exchange is much much better than the one offered by merchants. Instant transfer from your current account to the monzo card as well. Heat added especially if you can get your hands on the £30 credit.

No, that's only abroad after a certain limit has been reached.

Would help if people actually read past headlines.

How do you become an "O2 Student"? Will an NUS card and PAYG sim suffice, or do you have to have a contract with them?

I didn't think they'd yet decided on the fee structure, last time I looked there were 3 different offers on the table? But yeah, is only abroad, but then why else would you really want a currency conversion pre-pay card? I have both this and revolut, but if they go through with the planned 3% fee on ATM use after £200/m then revolut is cheaper.

Of course if you're just doing this for the free £30 it doesn't matter.

EDIT: Does this bypass the initial £100 load to get the card?

the limit of £200 is cash withdrawals only, so just pay with card.
