A fantastic film at a fantastic price - the Homebase half price sale surprisingly includes all their entertainment stock as well, and there are a number of good deals to be had - but this one stood out for me given how you're generally looking at up to £13 for this DVD at the moment with most online and high street retailers. I bought it this afternoon at my local store (Streatham Common) when they had an additional 10% off everything in store too (I think just this weekend, sorry!)- so I picked up my copy for a ridiculously good £6.29. They had several copies too as I took a slipcase to the customer collection desk and they pulled out one of the sealed copies from under the counter... hope this helps some prudent bargain hunter!

An isolated lunar astronaut begins to lose his grip on reality in this cerebral sci-fi thriller with one heck of a twist.
Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is just two weeks away from finishing a lengthy, lonely contract mining Earth's primary source of energy, Helium-3, on the dark side of the moon. Thanks to a glitch in the communications satellite, Sam's only companion on this trip is Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey), the base's unsophisticated computer, and the odd recorded message sent from home. As his contract nears termination, Sam starts suffering from crippling headaches and vivid hallucinations, which lead to a near-fatal accident in a lunar rover. But while he's recovering back at the base, he makes a shocking discovery: a younger version of himself has arrived to fulfil the same contract Sam started all that time ago. Is the second Sam just another hallucination or something altogether more sinister?

Nice spot - must add Homebase to my usual trawls for films - recently had myToysRus first visit for £4.99 BluRays!

Just had warning from Avira Premium:x

I got the Kaspersky warning too

Great movie btw

I also got the Trojan message. MODS please take notice!

As for the movie, its excellent (but low budget) science fiction. Clever idea..Worth the money IMO. Thanks for sharing..

Will add heat..but no Rep (also reported this to Mods)

I was in Homebase yesterday and spotted some the DVD section, not a huge selection but they were all very cheap.

I bought Serenity for £1.79 (normally £1.99 but had their 10% off Fri & Sat).

Great film! really enjoyed it, recommended!

agreed excellent film and a credit to the actor and director

We like the moon coz it is close to us...we like the moon but not as much as a spoon

(Sorry, couldn't help myself)

Good film...I like to think of it as a cross between Silent Running and 2001.

Original Poster

why has this guy got a trojan in his avatar

"this guy" has got a name....

...but I have no idea. I checked the original image on two separate virus checkers - with no luck. But trying a different avatar instead. Sorry for the trouble folks!

Hot deal
up there with hurt locker for best films of 09 i believe

Top film, no thrills, just a great 'make you think' kinda film. Loved it. Not seen Hurt Locker yet but have to agree with Vinnie, up there as one of my fav films of 2009 with inglorious and Avitar

The best space movie for a long time

waiting for a blu ray deal as this will be a classic like 2001

The moon has no atmosphere but this dvd has loads

Great movie, I'm sure I recall this deal happening before some time?!?!?!

Excellent find! Been wanting to see this film for ages. Never realised Homebase sold DVDs either. What next? The Constant Gardener?
