Went into Tesco today to try to grab some of the Neopolitina Organic tomatoes but had no luck, so I checked up on a couple that I'd seen on MSE.

Dorman's Fruit and Nut (both varieties). They're hanging on strips, marked at £1.79 but scan at 1p. (thanks Venezia on MSE)

World Harvest Soups. Chicken and Vegetabe, Minestrone, and Tomato. All scan at 1p.

Princes Tinned Peeled Plum tomatoes. I didn't get the heads up on this one. I just saw that the shelf was empty but a can had been hidden behind some others. I smelt a rat and guess what, it scanned at 1p.

I tried to buy 40 bags of the Dorman's nuts in the Leyland store but they wouldn't let me and only let me buy 4. So I went back in and put some through on the self service checkout. Then went to the other two local Tescos near me (Chorley and Buckshaw Village) and managed to grab more bags.

There's loads of the soup on the shelves as I think it's a new product.

Pics and Receipts to follow.

sorry should have probably mentioned. I can assume this is in store only.

Both in different stores, so it'll most definitely be nationwide.

Cold votes always amaze me on stuff like this. I guess it's because some people think that the chances of finding them are slim.

I bought the nuts from three different stores, and all three had tons of the soup left. So I don't think these are going to be as rare as other 1p deals. The tomatoes may be a different story though.

Gah, I even searched for them, sorry. I haven't tried the soup and I'm not sure how good they'll be considering they're only 14p to begin with.

Still, it's a good heads up on the nuts They're quality. Managed to grab 21 bags across 3 stores.

Just so everyone knows which Dorman's nuts they are (and therefore don't end up paying the astronomical RRP), here's which bag designs scan at 1p.

Hehe, if you go crazy. Don't do what I did and take them to the checkout. I'm pretty sure that the snotty-nosed cow that served me will just end up buying them herself. And remember, they're not on a shelf but a hanging strip.

I think they usually do. If you're referring to these. They're already on. They most likely won't say 1p on the shelf label, but will scan at 1p.

I must be for thinking I could get away with loading up my basket with 40 bags of nuts and approaching the most miserable looking checkout assistant in the store.

Pity really, as there was another guy working who seems a laugh. He let me buy 24 rubber squeaky chickens a couple of weeks ago. The banter was awesome. Lesson learned

lol. good point.

I'm just a sucker for convenience.

Actually my missus called me while I was at the store as she had a friend coming over who will only drink wine with ice cubes in. When I get home, I find out she's not coming. Grrr.

The tomatoes are BBE July 2012
The Soup is BBE September 2012
The fruit and nuts are BBE July 2011 and the Chocolate Fruit and Nuts are BBE June 2011.

So the toms and soup, over a year, the nuts, about 3-4 months.

That was actually the best 24p I've ever spent. I took them all out on St Paddy's day and had the best night ever Oo.

Once the beer had flowed a bit, they ended up getting distributed across the pub. All my mates had one in their back pocket so no-one could sit down or get up with it squalking. They got perched on top of the flat screen telly (that one's called Brian and he's still there - I just can't concentrate on the footy anymore because of it).

One of them even ended up with his own facebook page.

facebook.com/pro…900

I know it's hard to explain how damn funny it was without being there and being drunk, but it will be talked about locally for years. Once I started to run short of them, people were begging me for the last two and bought me drinks for them. 2 pints of Guiness for 24p

Sounds like a brilliant night out, love the facebook

Had nothing better to do I take it?

I got some ocean spray cranberry sauce from Ipswich last week, the big jar, was about £2, price edge said 49p, scanned at 1p!

Some nice prices if you can find them.

I've had my eye out for that too, but can only find the "wholeberry" cranberry sauce. I think it's only the "smooth" variety that scans at 1p.

Considering that they're a mile apart and on my way to where I was going, I won't grumble at taking a small detour to get £38 of nuts (ok, price is over inflated), for 21p

Got 10 packs of nuts and 4 packs of soup. Thank you. More at Tesco Irvine.

I got 2 tins of tomatos and 20 boxes of soup (4 in a box) no nuts in store PURLEY

These items were just being removed from the shelf at my local store in Maesteg, but managed to get a couple of boxes of the soup which the guy wanted back as he said they had been discontinued and being called back as they may be unfit and they would not go through the till. I told him they were in my basket now and the reason for the recall was they realised their mistake. They went through till ok but now have been removed from shelves. What is mse by the way

Got some Minestrone & Tomato boxes this morning.Scanned through at 1p a box
No sign of The Dormen or single tins of tomatoes.

lassy...mse is moneysavingexpert (site)

The soups are made by Symingtons symingtons.com/
I know what I'm going to do if they turn out to be foul

Thank you - stocked up on tomatoes

I just got 10 boxes of soup. The guy on the till voided the transaction and want to take me to customer services. I just went through the self checkout instead.

Couldn't find the nuts anywhere! Where are they displayed guys?

angentially - i picked up a 410g tin of adzuki beans from tesco on monday and got charged 1p!!

i guess that was a mistake - i think they were supposed to be 37p marked down from 57p.

unfortunately i didn't check my receipt until this morning so i expect the mistake has been rectified.

worth checking though for anyone who'll be in tesco anyway - the larger stores like the one i go to in the old kent road have a scanning device customers can use to check prices.

Original Poster

I actually looked for the adzuki beans, but there wasn't any in either store.

The nuts are hanging on clip strips in the where the rest of the nuts are. If there's none on a strip, look for the other Dorman's nuts (the expensive ones) and look behind their display boxes (found a couple of bags of these in two stores this way).

was thinking of going 2 my Tesco,or would it be to late? Lazy me!lol

You've a very very good chance of getting the soups. It also seems that there's still plenty of the nuts around (probably because they're marked up at £1.79, which is ridiculously expensive - no wonder they didn't sell ).

Not sure about the tomatoes. I only found 1 tin in 3 stores.

In all three stores that I've found them, they've been on the bottom shelf in-between tesco value chicken soup and the non-value tesco own-brand cup a soups.

Even though I bought that mountain. There was still some left on the shelf.

Checked three stores thisevening and only the larger out of town one had any of these.

Total: 3 bags of Dormans nuts. Searched high and low and they were in amongst other even more expensive Dormans nuts. Only the black packets ring through at 1p. Yummy.

Sorry but this deal isn't that hot anymore, maybe if I braved the rain thismorning I could have warmed to it.

Still had 4 tins of tomatoes for £1 which was nice.

Got some of the nuts, but not too keen on the xmas spice used to flavour them.
