Shed loads of flights to Barcelona in May from London Stansted £17.99 each way = £35.98 return Kaaaching :), also many cheapies from alternative airports so check Ryanair direct for your local airport.

see image below for some ideas of dates.

If anyone is willing to travel up to Costa Brava or down to Costa Dorada you can get some really good weeks away - eg, hotel and flight to Lorret £64pp (family of 4) staying in Santi Apartments 14th - 21st May for a week. Remember Barcelona is not local airport for these resorts though so you will need to consider hiring a car or looking into buses. Transfers are possible but they cost more than the flights lol xxx

Buy a T10 train ticket to get from the airport to the City. It is really cheap and covers 10 journeys and can be shared between a group so if their are 5 of you it will cover 5 people from the airport to the city and 5 people return to the airport. We did this a couple of years ago and it was very simple.

Marry me?

Brilliant thanks for this helpful info xxx

Fab price Stacey, heat added

Great price.. Any recommendation for reasonable accommodation?

Stacey, just wondering, if seats are reserved (£5 each, each way), are you guaranteed them - never reserved seats before, but don't want a repeat of last year when we went to Spain and were all split up - my 6 year old son had to sit with complete strangers at the back of the plane. Do they actually let you get on board first? Thank you.

seems to be some great Ryanair deals last few days...from everywhere but Liverpool

In the days before it was common to reserve seating, we flew to Calgary and were separated from both of my children aged about 6 and 8 at the time. It was a very bumpy flight especially the landing and both my children were sick and had to be looked after by strangers. (Very kind strangers who I felt very sorry for). We were miraculously found seats together on the flight back when I mentioned the details of the flight out ;-)

We have be late once or twice getting to the flight but both times I have stood up and refused to fly unless they put us together, they make announcements on the plane offering people free drinks if they will give up their seats together for families, they also keep some seats reserved at the back for disabled people etc which they will let you sit in if they have not been taken...

We flew with Ryanair and it was the first time any of us had ever flown as well, so I was particularly worried about my 6 year old. I was actually standing up on the plane explaining about my 6 year old, etc, and even though people just sat there listening in, not one person offered to swap seats. When we went, none of the Ryanair staff actually offered drinks for people to give up their seats either. I just don't want to go through that again. We were actually quite close to the front of the queue, but it was tipping down (on the way out, and back) and most people were running for the plane, so I couldn't keep up with them with the luggage and my 6 year old!

I understand xxx Well I think reserved seating is a better option that priority boarding as people just run and take over you to get on the plane anyway <<< sound crazy doesnt it lol xxx

We fly with Ryanair in April and will apparently be allocated seat numbers at the online check-in if we havent already reserved them x

ryanair do not allocate seat numbers? its a bit like getting onto a bus where you sit where you can unless you pay the extra for reserved seating. Did you pay the extra?

From 1st Feb apparently they will allocate seats when you check-in online. Am i allowed to post a link to the press release? x

I could be wrong but I think Ryanair do allocate seats now for free. I think you only pay now if you want to reserve a specific seat. We flew with them last month and our seats were allocated at the time of booking and I'm sure I read in their in-flight brochure that this was a new thing from Jan 2014?

Looks like xlesleyx beat me to it!

Yes they have allocated seats for a while if you pay the extra

Allocated Seats On All Ryanair Flights

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite low fares airline, today (31 Jan) confirmed that from tomorrow all Ryanair flights will operate with allocated seats, allowing all Ryanair customers to choose their preferred seats in advance.

Ryanair customers can select their preferred allocated seat either when booking or when checking-in online with three seat options available:
· Premium seats – Rows 1-5, 16, 17 & 32,33 – giving customers priority boarding, extra legroom and/or faster disembarking all for a fee from €10/£10 (the same fee as Ryanair’s current reserved seat fee)

· Standard seats - Rows 6-15 & 18-31 – where customers can pre-select their preferred window or aisle seats or ensure that they sit together for a fee from €5/£5 (priority boarding can be added for a supplement of just €2/£2).

Ryanair customers who do not wish to pre-select their seats can check-in during the period from 7 days to 2 hours prior to their flight and they will be assigned an allocated seat at no cost. (Free allocated seats will not be available prior to 7 days before each flight departure).

Customers who have already purchased priority boarding for flights departing after 1st February can select a standard seat free of charge when checking-in online.

from luton there are only flights to girone and reus. which one is better?

Getting from airport to city is dead easy.

They have updated that release now as a lot of people complained about not being able to check in for the return flight and print boarding passes until they were already on their holidays (the 7 days before rule). It is now possible to check-in 15 days prior to the flight for the general (free) allocated seats x

From 1 Feb all seats on flights will be allocated. Customers’ seat numbers will be displayed on all boarding passes.

Customers may select their preferred seat during (a) initial booking, or (b) Manage Booking or (c) Online Check-In, up to 4 hours before the scheduled flight departure time.

The following seats are available for customer selection:

Premium Seats - Rows 1-5 (rapid exit), Rows 16 & 17 (extra leg room) and Rows 32 & 33 (rapid exit). Available from £/€ 10 (including Priority Boarding)

Regular Seats - Rows 6-15 & 18-31 available from £/€5. These seats can be upgraded to include Priority Boarding for a small supplement of £/€2.

General Allocated Seats - Customers who don’t wish to pay for a Premium or Regular seat can check-in online between 15 days to 4 hours prior to scheduled flight departure and will be assigned a randomly allocated seat at zero cost.

Customers who have already selected Priority Boarding on flights departing from 1 Feb onwards, can now select (free of charge) a Regular Seat (including Priority Boarding) when checking-in online.

Girona is above Barcelona in Costa Brava and serves resorts such as Lloret de Mar, Tossa, de Mar, Calella and Malgrat.

Reus is below Barcelona in Costa Dorada and serves resorts such as Salou and Cambrils and La Pineda

I hope this helps xx

ahh I see sorry - its just a case of shopping around on those transfer sites such as resort hoppa etc to see where you can find cheapest transfers for the dates the flights are on

PLEASE READ THE BELOW BEFORE BOOKING:
Can I cancel my Ryanair reservation before travel and do I need to notify Ryanair if I am not travelling?

All Ryanair flights are fully changeable but cannot be cancelled. Passengers are therefore not required to notify us if they are unable to travel on their booked flights. Passengers who do not use their outbound flight may use their return flight. Ryanair flight dates/times/routes can be changed up to 4 hours before the flight departure time via the Manage My Booking section of the website. Name changes may be made up to 4 hours before to the outbound flight.

If you do not use your booked flight the air fare, fees and charges are non-refundable but you may apply in writing within one month of the date of original travel for the refund of the Government Tax paid. Government tax refunds are subject to an administration fee. click here for fee details. If the refund amount is less than the applicable administration fee, no refund will be made.

Recently returned from Barca and stayed at the Hotel Novotel Barcelona City, its a nice large 4*. I managed to walk everywhere from this location including to the marina, ramblas etc. Also minutes from the Novotel hotel along the same street my friend stayed at the hotel ibis Barcelona Pza Glories which was also nice and half the price at £50 per night at time of booking.

Can confirm I flew home from Ostrava in Czech Republic on Feb 1st & you are allocated a random seat ( unless you pay extra ) . Once flight is airborne & captain has switched off seatbelt sign any vacant seats are offered for free to anyone that wants them .

Oh thank you! Just what I was looking for - a cheap city break

Just make sure you set some rat traps up in your bags. You'll know when you're being pick pocketed.

Finally, a deal that I'm free for! This could make for a great graduation celebration, thanks SunshineStacey
