Site's in meltdown at the mo, so please be patient.

(And don't go buying up everything, as I haven't placed an order yet!)

do you know lovefilm is same as asda aka the hut?

Yeah I noticed they are all priced the same as Asda. The DVD's I ordered from them should be arriving tomorrow hopefully

Yes, as I pointed out on the HMV thread I started. If you go back and read it, you'll see I pointed that out a number of times.

If their deliveries are anything like The Hut with my ordered stuff then forget ever getting these !

Yep, that's The Hut. Everything worth getting from The Hut is showing as sold out, whereas the Lovefilm titles are showing despatch in 4 days. I wouldn't have bought The Matrix Trilogy from them, though. In fact, I got my Ultimate Matrix from Amazon.ca for under £24 delivered.

Although Lovefilm uses The Hut's interface and has The Hut deal with supplies, they are two different companies. Just as Asda Entertainment is a different company to The Hut.

Pretty much the same

Wish these were cheap

Beowulf
Clockwork Orange
In The Shadow of the moon
Polar Express

Have you quite finished editing your post now? I see you are a member on the AVForums, too..want me to post comments about The Hut on your thread from people who spend a lot of money on this sort of thing?

Still three different companies, bearman. If they weren't, HUKDs wouldn't have them listed as such.

You know, it's obvious that you annoyed because you want more heat for your The Hut thread. That would also explain why you slagged off HMV and praised up The Hut on my HMV thread. At the end of the day, stop being so petty. As long as people save money, that's all that matters. I don't give a **** about rep or heat, but it seems you do.

lol i had given your threads heat!
glad im right though

and you can post what you like on the av forums lol i wont lose sleep over it

To be fair I think you're taking it too far.

The Hut runs the Asda-Entertainment AND Lovefilm's websites. So The Hut should reflect price changes (possibly before the others) and latest stock-availability as they come from the same system.

If it says it is out of stock on The Hut then it will be at both Asda and Lovefilm. The 4 day wait thing means that they have been promised a quantity from the suppliers but have yet to receive it so lets see what happens.

So most of these orders will be processed after those that have been made at the Hut etc. It ultimately comes down to stock control and how many they get given in the first place. We could all be waiting some time.

Thing I don't get is why people insist on posting the same deals for Asda, The Hut and Lovefilm even though they are the same company.

I think you owe the other guy an apology.

I disagree, Muddy. Like I said, he pretty much slated HMV when I posted the HMV thread on here, stating that people were better off ordering from The Hut (because he'd posted The Hut Matrix deal). Also, Asda Entertainment, The Hut and Lovefilm are three separate companies, with three different links on HUDK and Quidco. Thus, they deserve individual threads. They aren't the same company, Muddy. Up until recently, Tesco used a different company to supply them with games, dvds, etc, but as far as the customer was concerned, they were buying from Tesco. The contact is between the customer and Tesco. So, if you order from lovefilm, your contract is with Lovefilm. If you order from Asda-Entertaiment, your contact is with them...not The Hut.

exactly, your more likely to get it from the main supplier quicker than 2nd/3rd in a line, and all the films and prices are going to be the same. of course hukd has different names for them, i cant buy groceries or pc's from the hut! but im bored of this now lol

If you were to go and order something from the hut now, you won't get your order shipped before someone who ordered from Lovefilm two hours ago. You don't get preferential treatment just because you've ordered from The Hut. Whether you like it or not, they are three different companies. It's not just HUKD that thinks so...they are three separate companies as far as Companies House is concerned, too. Like I said, they all share the same website layout and stock database, and all use the same supplier.

As far as I can see, it's a good price but most of these titles have been available from other stores for the same price (even if they are owned or operated by one company).

I've got most the films I wanted. Just waiting for Transformers to drop to £5!

Not to take this too far and trash the thread, it'll be my final post regarding this.

Although Asda, Lovefilm and The Hut are separate companies. The Hut is the single company that operates the DVD sales for both Asda-Entertainment and Lovefilm.

I believe the process is called "]drop-shipping" where they basically print the logo and info that the middleman wants.

More info can be found here: shop.lovefilm.com/lov…nfo

The Lovefilm arm also have some generous codes as well, I swear there was a recent 10% off... (other than quidco)

PS. wrt to the 3 companies, it is in The Hut's best interests to fulfil all orders especially as they ultimately have an impact on the brand name they are working with and they also benefit from greater distribution (reaching a larger market). The Hut also deal with all queries and customer problems regarding DVD (etc) sales. But with the rush for the films when they originally came on The Hut I can't see why they wouldn't fulfil the orders on a first come first served basis - though as time passes you're ultimately going to get less chance of getting them, lets hope they're getting a massive shipment in :whistling:

i think alot of the films for hmv/the hut etc (apart from a few titles that they already had in) must be coming from the same big supplier from warner as they all had delayed shipment times of around the same time it seems

The 10% code is actually posted in my OP...it's SHOP10 to get 10% off...valid until midnight tomorrow night.

I''ll probably end up doing what I did yesterday and what I've had to do on 4 previous orders with The Hut (also done it with Asda Entertainment orders too)...cancelled when they drop on HMV. I had one particular order telling me a despatch date two weeks after said date had already passed. In the end, I cancelled, as HMV dropped the price so I got it from there instead. Also had the same issue with Sendit. My orders for films I cannot get from HMV (yet) will stay until they are fulfilled or HMV drops the price. I placed 3 orders with The Hut a few days back. I cancelled 2 as soon as they dropped on HMV. HMV has already shipped both films out to me, whereas The Hut is still awaiting stock.

Ordered The Invasion (showing as processing)I would not have bothered
though if I had realised lumped in with all the others The Hut etc, will leave for
a few more days than cancel if no sign of despatch.

I placed an order for 8 HD-DVD's on the 25th from Asda, just received 2 emails today both saying they have none in stock and are waiting to hear from suppliers which should be the end of next week.

Totally lame. You would think they wait for people to put their orders in THEN go and get them from somewhere else.
