Who wants to iron?? Not many of us, but at this amazing price it has to be a winner!! Reduced from £149.99 to £69.99 and with use of the current promotion for 20% off irons over £49.99 this is further reduced to only £55.99!!

Most other stores have this at the full price, but with some research it could be found around £70 elsewhere. Not a patch on the deal offered here!!

AT ALMOST A THIRD OF THE FULL PRICE IT IS AS HOT AS THE STEAM IT GENERATES!!!!!!

Yes picked mine up just now, paid £55.99 and got 3% cash back through a scheme by my employer. For the price this looks great, will be trying it out tomorrow!

Which sez about the 42270:

This steam generator gave disappointing results in our practical tests and is awkward to use.

The main problem with this iron is that it's slow to get started. When you first switch on, its steam output is lower than many standard steam irons, and although the generator heats up quickly, it takes another minute before the iron is hot enough to use.

On the plus side, the generator tank can take about a litre of water, which lasts at least half an hour. You can heat the tank up as you go, which is handy. The water tank is removable.

There's a trigger to activate the steam, but we noticed an inconvenient delay before steam actually arrived, both when you first start ironing and after pauses. What's more, it doesn't provide as much steam as other irons, which slowed our testers down.

You can use this iron for vertical steaming, although it wasn't as efficient as other generator irons we tested.

Nice link to your own deal there!

This is never going to be the best there is, it is after all only just over 50 quid!! There will be better ones no doubt, but I felt this was quite a good find on the day.

:whistling:

Got mine and it is FANTASTIC! Never used a steam generator and will never now go back to an old iron!

Thanks again!

Same here! One of the best things about this deal was the ability to click and collect. :-D

Voted cold Macro have this for 29.99

Haven't looked into the price of this item, but can verify that once you have a steam generator you will never go back to a standard iron again.

Am very surprised this has reared it's ugly head again!! Was a GREAT deal, but now expired. However did notice my local Tesco had one almost identical by Russell Hobbs for only £35...... now that is a BARGAIN!! Can't say I wish I had waited, you could say that about everything.

Steam generator irons are SO much better than a normal iron however this one is rubbish. Our good old Tefal Steam Generator was knocked off the board over christmas onto tiles and broke, so we bought this one as a replacement. The three adults in our household that iron immediately noticed that it wasn't half as good as the tefal (bought for a similar offer circa £70 off of amazon half price a year or two ago), and I'm afraid it broke 6 days after we bought it - refused to generate any more steam...back to Argos and we bought the equivilent Tefal model which whilst wasn't on such a good offer (down to £129 from £149)...is absolutely brilliant in terms of performance in comparison to the disappointing Morphy Richards.
So, in summary, if you've never used a steam generator iron, this will still impress you as it beats normal irons. but if you are used to even an inexpensive steam generator iron this will disappoint you as it doesn't live up to its technical specs. It's around £70 in the argos sale still by the way.

deal has expired.....

the tesco one is out of stock too

i have to be quicker noticing these deals....

That iron looks good Mr Hunter - let us know what its like when it arrives please. There are so many different opinions on these sorts of irons that I am well and truly confused!!
