If anyone, like me, is looking for a new coffee maker at present, you could do a lot worse than this Morphy Richards Mattino 47070. I've looked at dozens of models and finally settled on this one as it looks the best for the price. It does up to 12 cups of coffee, which it can brew in 10 minutes, keeps the coffee nice and hot, looks nice and has a quality jug and, best of all if, like me, you depend on coffee to wake up in the morning, has a programmable digital timer! Also includes a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

I went out today to get one of these and first saw one in Comet for £37.49. However I was in Asda Home later and they had them at £25! Hopefully they will be the same price in regular Asda supermarkets as well.

They're £30 (+ delivery) on Asda Direct, so looks like this may be insore only. However, they're £29.99 on Comet's website (free delivery or reserve and collect, which should override the £37.49 instore price), so if you can't get one at £25, that's the next best price.

For others who haven't yet plumped do consider the earlier HUKDs on the Philips Senseo for £29
eg Comet still showing on their website though fear they are mostly out of stock; had been Argos too but ran out I think.
(Probably best suited to 2 person coffee-drinker households.)
Has a 2yr Philips warranty & pods cost 8p/unit at Lidl
Good luck...

What if you don't like digital coffee? Does it make filter too?;)

Also a third off these in Sainsburys, cant remember the before and after price, but it was £20 (something) with the third off.

That one was actually right next to this one on the shelf in Comet. That's a good model too, and a great price. I just prefer filter to the pods though, especially as I get beans because I have a grinder.

Ah, I thought it was the same one - I saw one reduced in Sainsburys about a month ago, liked the fact that it had a digital timer, but didn't get it because my old coffee machine was still working and I thought I could always just get use a power socket timer with it. Days later my coffee machine broke (probably because I was eyeing up a new one) so I went back to Sainsburys - and they had none left! I think at the time they had 33% off the RRP (which is £49.99), so they were £33.33, but the stores that have stock left could have reduced them further.

Tempted by this because of the timer, would be nice to wake up to a jug of coffee ready and waiting!

Excellent coffee maker - I bought mine for £50 a couple of years ago, and have had no problems.

Use this model myself and looks good and does the job - coffee a bit cool for my liking but I am a freak and like it scorching (having said that most filter machines at this price wont produce a steaming hot cup). Good machine for the price.

Have got this and would recommend to all, very good price heat added.

Not impressed. Not what I expected for £33 (Sainsburys discount price).
It is awkward to fill through the narrow water reservoir opening.
Coffee grounds get through the plastic filter into the cup (yech).
Even after machine has cooled there is a large volume of condensed water inside the top. Lift the lid and any water on it has a tendancy to run into the filter or down the back of the machine.
