5 lettuce plants for a quid? I just buy one of Lidl's "living salads" and plant them out- about a dozen for 89 pence or so.
The trays of 20 bedding plants are very good value, they are a decent size too.OH works on the plants and flowers department and fully recommends them + she gets 10% off
Cracking deal, off to get some now.

Yes, I did that as well; also with the Morrison's 'living salad', which was better quality and more plants than the Lidls!

I'll be having a look in Morrisons this week - thanks OP. The last plant I got there was the £4 Cordyline - very good quality, again.
SORRY WHATS LIVING SALDADS?
caps sorry!
I bought a small 8" weeping willow last year as a bare root, it only looks amazing now and over 8ft tall.

Sadly I've now moved house, I just hope they have some more in this year.
