What brand(s) of dog food would you recommend then?

I'm not being awkward, just genuinely interested as I am also a dog owner.

It's all very well offering your dog quality food..... but will they eat it? THe only ( and I mean only) food our dogs will eat is purina pro-plan. However, if you have a labrador, from my experience he will eat anything, including the Sunday roast left on the worktop!!!

Natures Diet or James Wellbeloved for my pooch.

Like someone said above the stuff on the supermarket shelves is rubbish. Hence why it is so cheap.

We've just recently got a labrador, and he eats anything and everything he can get hold off. So far the only thing he's turned his nose up at is lettuce (and he even had a few chews at it before spitting it out). We've been feeding him pedigree chum & mixer but have just tried him on the Wagg complete bags and will probably just stick with it for ease of use - or is it rubbish too?

Mac-d. I don't think tinned food is enough for a big lab. (80% ? water) Wilsons is a good food around £12 for 15kg and although it's a balanced food, you could mix as little tinned with it - and it's satisfying.
Wilsons with linseed oil makes their coats gleam.
.

seriously wagg is rubbish.im using arden grange just now,its made with free range meats and they dont test on animals either etc.charlie is enjoying the new zealand lamb just now with 38% meat...check the meat content on the wagg and pedigree bags.

I see what you mean by the moisture content of tinned food, but I'm not sure that Wilson's is that much better than Wagg? (See this review). Just found this review site, looks quite interesting: Dog Food Analysis.

Arden Grange looks better quality but it's hard to justify spending three times more on it - when we had a dog as kids they were fed on tinned food and they were fit and healthy. Unless your pet has allergy problems is it really worth the extra cash for these 'healthier' ranges?
