Is it too much to ask them to attach a plastic spoon to the pack?

Yeah, but you'd also need a tin opener strapped to it
What's special about the price? Ready made custard - bigger 500g pack is 33p at Aldi, I would guess without looking that Lidl would be similar.

This is the special vegetarian custard. Contains no eggs, and only real artificial colours and flavours, like carotene and modified maize starch, and 'flavourings' (generally considered to be MSG).

For those that don't know, you probably already have everything at home to make custard already.
You only need milk, eggs and sugar. Doesn't even seem worth the cost recycling the tin can.

You can add additional flavours like vanilla or nutmeg, of if you're jamie oliver, some chilli flakes and half a pint of olive oil.

The lack of eggs isn't what makes this vegetarian as it's vegans that don't eat them, it's likely how the whey is produced as this isn't always suitable.
Can't beat Birds custard, now... if only they sold that in a tin!!

Absolute rubbish!

What tinned or long life carton custard contains eggs? It's all basically maize starch! Morrisons also contains "flavourings"

Traditional Creme Anglaise is made with eggs, but I bet not more than 1% of the population have ever made it.
