I do like these. I have my cupboards stocked.

I try to eat things like this for the good of the environment and all that. But, I'd give a cow a run for it's money with my methane production after a lentil based meal.

You're in the clear. There's hardly any methane in a human cloud.

Funnily enough I was looking at a recipe book yesterday and it called for mung beans in one of the recipes... Might just give it a go now with this deal!

Do u guys pre-soak, lots of people do recommend a pre-soak of about 1-3 hours for say whole moong ...

Is that right, any people who think it's not necessary to pre-soak... Does pre soaking impair flavour :/

Also do you pressure cooker or saucepan boil these. Yes I know pressure cooker reduces the time by half ! But some daals foam up (urid) loads and is that OK in the pressure cooker??

(I know for sure whole chick peas, red kidney beans soaking overnight is a defo)

But if there's hardly any methane in a human trump, why do they ignite? And if methane is bad for the environment, surely I should, we should, always ignite our bottom burps.

Your bum salute contains plenty of hydrogen and hydrogen sulphide (eggy thunder?) in addition to an iccle methane. All these gases are good and combustible. You probably should burn them - turn that methane into water and CO2....a less potent greenhouse gas. I chose not to, I prefer to leave them behind me by zigzagging away or closing the bathroom door on them for someone else to discover.

I've only just invested in a pressure cooker so I've not tried that method yet, but when I've presoaked mung beans I haven't noticed any difference. There may be others who are more qualified. I only have a non meat meal once per week at most, and I tend to opt for mung beans if I want to replaced mince.

Other beans, I tend to use with meat. Kidney beans are a nuisance making me have to pre-plan 12 hours in advance. And everybody knows for a good chilli, which is the exclusive use for kidney beans, you have to cook it 24 hours in advance, i.e. cook it, fridge it, reheat it the next night. This means for a good chilli I need to pre-plan 36 hours in advance! That damn kidney bean.

Any dry beans(whole) must be pre soaked(8hrs in average) for best results. They will bulge and ready for pressure cooking,Boiling,Slow cooking.Even they can be used as raw for salads.
