When did they change the price? Wife was in there today and still paid the £1.50 for 2 that they have been charging for a while. oO Was she robbed, or was your store just getting rid of some short dated? I hope they have chafed to £1, as we usually always try to get the plain bread. Pity the don't do the green (thick sliced version) as that's a particular favourite.

I know it is usually £1.50, but I was at the Parkhead branch, Glasgow today to get usual uplift of Irn Bru and it was on a big display 2 for @1

My local is Kirkintilloch, but am down at the Forge regularly. Was it Westmuir St?

sure was, don't know how long it's for, even when they do 2 for £1.50 it's a great deal as most big stores charge around £1.09 just for one

If my local is still 2 for £1.50, I'll be in Parkhead to grab about 6 of these. Couldn't get any more in the freezer, or I'd have a pallet. Mind you, if the weather stays this cold I could put a few in the garage outside, and they would freeze, and stay frozen, for a while. Thanks for the info.

It is a Scottish nationwide offer that has been running for over 3 weeks now. I work in the Kilmarnock store and the company are trying to drive forward lots of Scottish deals due to F/F being a Scottish company.

The deal only works if you buy 2 of the Scottish loaves. If you buy 1 Scottish + 1 Hovis the price would be £1.75 (75p for the scottish and £1 for the hovis at their individual prices).

You may have noticed your store is pushing other Scottish products at great prices all in the one area of the store - most notably 2x2Litre bottles of Irn Bru for £1.60 but theres too many to list here.

Hope this has cleared things up a little.

Prob because they have a rat problem in the Luton store rat droppings all in the bottom crates and bitten all the bread.

They don't sell this bread in England.

Hope you've reported the rat problem?

I still remember the 'my mums' range when I was a kid!!

Old Skool

Plain loaf outsider toasted then apply some Lurpak..... absolute heaven!

Went into my local Farmfoods today and they also have it at 2 for £1. Happy days. Will be keeping the freezer full of as much plain bread as it can take while this offer is on. I don't even know, or care, how they can be making a profit.

How does this bread compare to Hovis or Warburtons?

before Warburtons and the like came to Scotland all we really had was Mothers Pride plain or pan, plain being the best...my fav sandwiches or pieces as we call them in Scotland are;

Piece n Jam
Piece n Square Sausage
Piece n Brown Sauce
Piece n Corned Beef

any others fav's add to the list

to answer your question Warburtons is nice, Hovis is boggin...too dry
