Moto C £8.50/month Tesco phone & data contract

Found 1st Aug 2017
I was looking for a first phone for my 10 year old daughter. She will be taking the bus to school.

She headed straight for this one and with the phone and tarrif contract coming to £8.50/month I thought this was a great deal.

For an additional £1/week you can insure the phone against loss, damage

Ok for a kids phone/contract but forget the insurance
£52 a year is a hefty wedge for such a cheap phone.

Seems like a neat idea, however my daughter says she doesn't know when she's dipped into using that and will just use her data until its all gone. Annoyingly, Tesco don't allow a £0 limit so that the £8.50 stays fixed. Crafty!

On Android you can easily set a data limit aligned to your monthly billing cycle so she shouldn't be going over - you an also set a warning level.

Not bad with a phone included and some half-decent headphones. Tariff little bit stingy (I guess what did I expect for £8.50) - it's 250 mins, 5000 text and 500MB.
Asda Mobiles a good deal for kids on the recurring £5 / 7 bundle. No contract

Can you? I'll have to investigate her phone. Thanks!!
Also download the tesco mobile app, and and it will tell you roughly how much of your allowance you have left.
And consider using Tesco xtras to reduce your bill by £3 every month (and they give you some extra data as well)

Yes, it in the data usage area on stock android phones. Annoyingly my HuaWei only does start to end of the month, you cannot set exact dates. Coming from Moto phones, it's damn annoying where everything works as it should.

You'll be able to set a warning level and a turn off level.
Got my Mother in law the Moto E3 same tariff for £7.50 p/m
You know what? they're pretty good phones nowadays.
I do like Motorola buy imo PAYG works better for kids.
Yeah it's a good deal....

Basically £4 for phone and other half for mins texts and data

It's not the best phone and the screen is the worst resolution Moto have had BUT its a fair deal

Basically the phone will cost you £100 over 24 months at £4.25 monthly

£4.25 for the mins data etc is pretty much cheapest you can get monthly

Consider Plusnet £5 monthly and buying a Moto E3 handset for £80 without a contract

The E3 is better than Moto C.... Nicer screen although battery life will be better on Moto C as Android 7 doze is good in standby and screen is less intense
Also consider the Moto E4 on Tesco at £11 a month. Much nicer phone
decent with the headphones which are made by binatone
Has anybody got any suggestions for a cheap phone for my 10-year-old. It would need enough memory to download a few games to play, ie, Pokemon? Don't really want to be spending out too much on a contract.

Yes but you're not signing up for 24 months

Depending when you buy the Plusnet sim you can get 1.5gb for £5 monthly but not at the moment. Lots of deals pop up with Plusnet. I have Plusnet sim and it's very fast 4g data with EE

Not sure who Tesco use.. think it's O2 so different network and signal reception

Strange - I have a cheap Huawei and that has a change cycle option in the data usage cycle dropdown, so the not being able to set exact dates isn't a universal thing across Huawei phones.

This is a p9 lite, EMUI4.1 no option I can find other than usage reminders. No drop downs anywhere on emui4.1, it's a **** interface other than being able to search it.

You might find the Tesco Mobile app gives you a small but welcome monthly discount, worth checking out.

You have my sympathies. I hadn't realised Huawei had been so stupid as to remove that obviously useful option from 4.1.

Its called the TESCO XTRAS app and will give you £3 off the price and 250 MB free data

so paying £5.50 for 250 mins 750MB data, New Moto C.......... makes it a great hot deal

Xtras app gives 200Mb, but it can use more than that some months downloading ads. I've blocked it from using mobile background data do now it only downloads the adverts at home over wi-fi. Don't forget family perks if more than one phone on the same contact.
