This or Huawei Y550?

If you have a sim that is eligible for PAYG upgrade, i would say go for the Y550 at £49.99

It is has a better CPU, GPU also front facing camera and LED flash for the rear which this doesn't have. Also that has 4G.

The advantages of this is that it is stock android, has a slightly better screen and is guaranteed to get android L.

This however does seem to be the cheapest deal for the Moto E at this moment in time

Hope this helps

Just tried the upgrade route on CPW and it says its not eligible! I have topped up more than once per month since Christmas and defo topped up more than £15! Ah well not sure what to do now!

Its a Christmas pressie for a Nana who only wants it for FB but it has to be an android as shes used to that. Might just go for this as I don't think the specs will be an issue for what she wants it for?

Cheers for the reply

You're welcome

Yes a few people have had issues with CPW eligibility, not sure why that's happening. No the specs won't be an issue at all for that, for your Nana this will be more than enough just be wary there is no front facing camera in case she wants to take selfies to post on facebook etc

Edited by: "Fuzzy-Dunlop" 23rd Oct 2014

Its a BONUS theres no front facing camera so she cant do selfies! She would scare the population of FB if she did! I'm posting this knowing she will never read it

Awwww man!

Great phone for the price, my son has one and have just bought the Mrs a white one.

Excellent phone but 4gb - DON'T.
I have this and it's like a fantastic all singing all dancing smart-TV without any way to plug it in.
An excellent phone SERIOUSLY let down by the ridiculous 4gb.
I put a 32gb card in, put everything on card, clean it every download its STILL got virtually no room left

You're probably right, so better to go for the 8Gb version for only £11 more (after the £10 off code):

The Moto E doesn't have an 8GB version, that's a mistake from Tesco. They have done the same with the white version of the Moto E I posted in my OP, that's showing as 8GB too, but that's wrong and an error by Tesco. This model only comes in 4GB.

It is cheap, but I would really consider getting the old or the new Moto G - it has slightly higher specs, but is much nicer to use.

For the Moto E, this is a great deal.

Tempted with this spent 20 minutes on the phone looking for stock of the moto g ,apparently at £60, from another thread posted but they don't exist in the whole of the south of England it seems. Really don't need 4 g with the new ones as it's for my daughter so this looks fine.If the space is a problem I will root it as I have done with all my androids to speed them up and create space and app permissions etc. Thanks for posting.

On this or the Virgin one?

Because on this one Quidco are doing 2.5% and TCB are doing 1.57%. and on the Virgin one there is no cashback I can see for Virgin Mobile on either, only showing on pay monthly contracts.

it's a special offer, you should have got an email from Quidco about it today - promoting the national lottery euromillions, but then at the bottom it says 'opt in and make a purchase from any quidco retailer to earn your £5 bonus' or something to that effect...

I have one for work and the space is just fine for a selection of apps that I need for work. Some of the old budget phones with 4GB were (deliberately?) hamstrung with further partitioning but these aren't so you can use all of it for apps (and some apps can be moved to SD on this if they support it) and use an SD for anything else...

If you aren't going to use many apps, you're quite right. Its fine. BUT bit by bit space WILL be taken up by the limiting 4gb.

C&C useless... supposed to be avail after 3pm - staff chased em and appaz it hadnt even been despatched! grrrrrrrr

update:cancelled order and was given £10 goodwill. So made a tenner. Getting the G now instead.

I called Tesco Direct and they confirmed they are all 8GB. just got mine from Tesco Direct and it is definitely 8GB.

I just collected my 'Tesco' Moto E from the local Tesco Express and it was unlocked (not locked to Tesco), effectively saving an additional £20! It was also 8GB internal storage.

8GB on a Moto E? the Moto E was only made with 4GB ROM.

Also unlock codes are only £1.18, its in the description every little helps though I guess

I have an 8GB phone from Tesco Direct, do you?

This is the text of the email from Tesco Direct Support

Dear David
Thank you for the email.

I have looked into the matter and can confirm that there are 2 models in existence a 4GB and an 8GB. It looks like the person which commented about 4GB had that version but I can assure you the one available on the website just now is 8GB.

I hope this clarifies things.

If you have any further queries please get in touch

The one I got was 4GB from Tesco. Ive searched everywhere online and can't find any mention of the Moto E being manufactured in an 8GB version, not even the international versions. Do you mind uploading a photo of the phone showing the internal storage? On your phone go to settings>storage then take a picture of the phone whilst on that screen and upload it here. Reason I ask is because I can't find any evidence of this online so would be interested to see this.

Thanks in advance

Edited by: "Fuzzy-Dunlop" 1st Nov 2014

I've looked again at my phone and I think it is 4gb internal storage. Like you I searched everywhere, including the Motorola website and they all say 4gb, so apologies for confusing you. I've sent another email to Tesco support asking for further clarification. I'll update you with their response.

Thanks for the update Tesco have definitely mislead you with that email and given you the wrong info, as an 8GB version of the Moto E doesn't exist.

Memory size is easy enough to verify-just go to settings>storage and you'll see how much you have and how much is being used

I misread and was so confused about how that had anything to do with 4G.
