It's being rolled out in stages so it won't be available to everyone at once. The SIM-FREE version is being updated first, then the ones from the networks.

if I'm right Moto G 2014 dual sim it's sim free only, never been locked to any network.

Does this phone have the ability to tether?

Almost every phone does i think (certainly anything released fairly recently) - it's most often the tariff/deal you're on that blocks you being able to do it...

Thats what i thought, but i'm enquirying for someone else so i just wanted to be sure.

Thanks

Good deal, but terrible company. If anything goes wrong, they ignore you. If the phone is covered by UK manufacturer warranty this may be ok.

Android 5.0.2 has just been released. Excellent update and the phone runs a lot smoother.

It will be interesting to hear how lollipop runs on the moto g. It rendered my old nexus 7 unusable so I went back to kitkat

ZTE BLADE s6 Far superior!!!

What are the differences between this phone and the original moto G?

Bigger screen (5" vs 4.5"), better camera, shorter battery life.

This is not 4G is it?

No 4g

No.

4G version coming out sometime in March apparently.

Apart from ZTE phones typically have no support or updates... Moto G has near pure android experience and regular updates. That is far more valuable to me and to others.

agreed good phone good price, terrible company. so this time its no lighty

I would still choose ZTE Blade S6 over this. You can always root your phone for the new OS when ever it arrives. There are more than just a few things which are better on Blade S6 when compared to Moto G.
But I can understand why some would like to choose Moto G. I use Nexus 5 which also runs a pure Lollipop just like Moto G and really good in that regards, but there is no memory slot and you can't change the battery if it goes faulty.

Bear in mind although it's a bigger screen is not a sharp as the 1st gen

Well, the Blade S6 is bound to have a better hardware spec, it costs 30% more. If you're happy to spend an extra £40 then the S6 may be a better deal, but for another £40 there are better phones still, well you get the idea.

Bunch of cowboys. Avoid pixmania like ebola

2015 and still selling mid range phones without 4G.

Rooting and installing a custom ROM really have nothing in common.

how many people that use data actually use 4g? i would say less than 1/3, maybe even less than 1/4 of the total people that have data plans

i personally find 3g speeds (and coverage) are quite sufficient for my needs

Yeah in the way of a cheap ass phone that feels cheep and no software support, yep superior

They'd use it if they had it. Obviously if your phone doesn't support it you cannot use it. People don't just enjoy slow internet speeds.

To be honest, the original Moto G came out with 4.3 even though there was 4.4, they eventually released 4.4 (as they promised) but people are still waiting for 5.0 to be rolled out to them. If they didn't release the Moto G with an outdated Android version they would only have 1 update which isn't ground breaking.
I think the Moto G is great but the updates thing is blown out of proportion. Let's see if the original one gets the next full release (5.1 or higher).

No 4G I'm shocked at this☺

I bought the sim free Moto G 2014 from Amazon last week. It updated to Lollipop after the initial setting up of the phone. After deliberating about which high end phone to get on contract I decided that the Moto G (2nd Gen) is more than suitable for my needs. I find the 3G speed is sufficient, it automatically switches to Wi-Fi when I get home, changes to car mode when I'm travelling and the OK Google assistant is so much better than Cortana (In my opinion).
The battery life could be better, yet will last a full day and chargers in less than 1h 30 mins and it is running lots of background features and a 5" screen. The camera is sufficient. I wish it had more internal memory though as not all apps can be moved to SD card and I don't want to root the phone.
For the money its a capable and well built handset !

I'm on the hunt for a new deal (either SIMO+phone or a new 24 month deal).

This phone doesn't stand out, except possibly on price and this is based on yesterday's price.

Yeah it's cheaper than before and definitely a deal for someone.

However.....It's 1.2 QC, 1G Ram, 720p screen and 8mp camera together with its non uniformed looks puts me off.

Pixmania .........avoid.........avoid..........avoid

pixmania are the worst online company dont do it

My good moto g 2nd gen is now even better with android 5 lollipop, plus, unlike certain phones that cost 400 quid more it's not the end if the world if it breaks. However, anyone who shops with pixmania should be prepared for an "Interesting" consumer experience.

how is lollipop?

can anyone give a brief review of how it runs on this phone?

Well, KitKat was only released 14 days before the Moto G was released. Most people with a Nexus hadnt even got KitKat at this point. It got KitKat in January 2014, so barely 2 months after it was released. Likewise, the original Moto G now has lollipop (5.0.2), all this before the ZTE. I've had ZTE phones in the past, they are badly supported IME.

I've had both 1st gen Moto G and now on 2nd gen - I have never really noticed the difference in sharpness at all. I can't imagine anyone would grumble at the screen on the 2nd gen unless they are keen on on-paper PPI specs!

£146 now !

I have lollipop on mine, is prettier though hasn't improved battery life,if anything it seems a little worse on 3g. The notifications work better
