Moto G 4G on O2 Pay & Go.

Seems a good price, locked to O2 i expect.

cheapest i could find Sim free was £125 on eBay - but not sure on the seller

Has been this price at o2 for a while, don't forget cashback as well - but yes is a very good price for the spec.

I was looking on tesco website, can get this handset for 4.50 a month with any 2yr contract, there's a juicy looking one, 750 mins, 5k texts and 1gb 4g data for 11.50 a month total 16 a month for 2 yrs. Does this sound like a good deal?

Bit more data and it would be a good deal for me.

I don't need the minutes so much, would rather the giffgaff unlimited 4G for £12/mnth

Unless you're gonna be using the 4g you are better off paying £15 more for the 2nd generation dual sim Moto G as detailed on other threads

The 2nd gen is massive. And the design isn't as good.

But so its dimensions are larger and it has a bigger screen - isn't that going to be what some people prefer? Not a bad thing, just different?

I like the look of this phone, I am after one with aptx, not sure which version of Moto G has or not.

The guy is saying spend more and get the larger screen version. But if as you say, some prefer larger screens, surely some prefer average sized screens.

The resolution is the same between the old and new versions so the pixel density (sharpness) of the screen is reduced.

The new one is only 3G vs this 4G version of last year's model.

The new one is guaranteed the Android L update but it's not clear if it'll be rolled out to last year's model.

Just pick the top tariff. It's just the SIM.

Thanks for the quick reply. I picked the bottom SIM. I'm not gonna get charged for any kind of monthly tariff then?

No they're pay and go monthly things.

This may be a particularly daft question, but i have a contract for an old phone (so 3G) that i want to keep as unlimited data. Will the 4G version of this phone work on my old contract?

Tesco pay as you go is £119 tesco

Really wish they would make a smaller version of the new version. I want the improved camera but 5" is too big for a phone.

That's 3G, this is 4G.

The 4G has been £120 @ Tesco Direct with the now expired £15 code.

Does anyone know when a 16GB version of this is coming out?

All1

I bought a factory unlocked Moto G 4G used (like new) condition from Amazon for 130 last week. I am impressed. It has better screen than iPhone 5S and is very responsive. Internal memory is only 8GB but you can use a microSD card. Latest kitkat 4.4.4 firmware fixes many SD card issues that previous firmware had.

hmmmm....

Moto 4G: IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.5 inches (~329 ppi pixel density)

iPhone 5S: LED-backlit IPS LCD, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, Size 640 x 1136 pixels, 4.0 inches (~326 ppi pixel density)

ok, i'll let you off

I thought that the point of this one was that it had a micro SD slot so you can expand it cheaply yourself? Is that not right.

Edit: This is in the specs of the 4G:

External Memory Card Type MicroSD slot supports up to 32GB … External Memory Card Type MicroSD slot supports up to 32GB expandable memory

Well in my case, I don't like any screen bigger than 4.7". I love Moto G first gen because I can handle it single handed without any issue. But I would like to upgrade for a one with 2GB ram. But only very few phones do have both, like HTC One M7 and Sony Z3 compact.

Me too! Driving me nuts trying to find a decent budget phone with a decent camera. Any ideas, anyone?

As for using the SD card slot to upgrade the memory I already do that on my current cheapo phone but apps take longer to load going via the sd card, so rather then buying 8GB which i may need to upgrade in 12 months i'd rather wait and buying 16GB and have last 3-4 years, i did hear is was coming out in Nov but nothing rock solid as yet

Anyone recommend a good cheap case for this?

Has anyone bought one from 02? Are they stock android?

Unlock codes here if you want.

Mmmmm, most of those cost from £11.95 to £30, with one guy selling for £1.69. So which is it?

The guy that sells them for £1.69 has good feedback, he even lists the imei numbers which dont return codes. I think i'll take my chance with him.

unlockdoctor £1.39, listing says Tesco but worked fine for O2

Yes, I can vouch for this guy. Managed to unlock my Tesco locked 4G last week when smgreen1969 couldn't. You need to pay upfront before imei checks but refundable if unlock code does not work. Nice chap to deal with.

best phone to cost out there. plus its the better battery of the older version but with SD and 4G. this phone has one of the best battery lifes (?) going and even though its my partners phone, I love it.
