Hey everyone,

I've picked up a Moto G +4G this evening at Tesco Extra Pengam in Cardiff for £139.

It is locked to Tesco Mobile, but using eBay and paying £1.69 for an unlock code I've got an unlocked one for £140.69. That is only 70p more than the out of stock unlocked one on their website, and with out any messing around with discount codes or having to wait for the delivery.

Sorry didn't ask if nationwide, but I can't see why it would be for such a new handset.

Used this guy for unlock: ebay.co.uk/itm…973

I bought one of these the other day. The screen can not handle the brightness. Moto (Google) says it is ok though because your getting a lot for your money oO

Also. Try getting the back off the thing.

Sorry last edit. If you buy them from the 02 shop (where I got mine) they are unlocked.

Do you mean the screen auto dims even with auto brightness off (like the Nexus 5)?

No, constant screen flashing. They know the problem and have identified it as a 'bug' but are working on it.

That's surprising to hear, I've never had a phone bought from O2 (5) be unlocked.

Not a Moto g, just various phones I bought from them.

That's kind of slipping away from this thread mate.

I also refused to pay for the £10 credit that you had to purchase to get it. all he did was put a code in the computer to remove it. might be helpful for someone.

Didn't have to pay £10 credit to get it.

Can report no screen flashing issues.

I just wanted to say, I bought one of these from tesco and its a great phone, but I can't get it unlocked as no eBay sellers can find a code. Apparently this is a known issue that affects some handsets

That suck's it's been a weird issue with unlock codes for years, usually Nokias that have the most issues. Have you tried the guy I suggested in the OP

Same issue with mine 4G Moto G. No one has been able to unlock the handset. Tried 5 sellers and all failed

Yes, smgreen is the guy I've been dealing with (excellent and highly recommended btw - good call!). There is a problem getting unlock codes for these phones since Monday apparently. Recommend buying the sim free version atm if you need sim free, I can try again in a week but no guarantees.
