Phoned Asda today in Telford to see if they still had any Moto G 4G's at the recent £80 sale price posted on this site and when they checked they had 4 XT1039's in black but the price was only £56 . Vodaphone branded box (probably locked to Voda believe unlock codes available) but no top up needed.

New Moto G coming July 28 might explain it. Phonearena.com

If yo get this, and it's still on Android 4.4.4, my advise to you is do not 'upgrade' to android 5.
Mine slowed down a lot when I did, clearing the cache made no difference, a factory reset has returned it to about 85-90% of its old speed.
Not possible to go back to 4.4.4.

On hold at mo' they gone to check - fingers crossed

very good price

Thank you soooo much OP, just reserved the last one!

They did, there is lp 5.1 available.I no longer have this phone as it was just a tad too slow, smallish for my use and the camera was not that good but it's great, super reliable handset, I loved it

Strange. Mine is faster and battery life is better. The launcher used to redraw itself numerous times when I had a few apps open but it doesn't do that now it's got Lollipop.

I normally tell folk to hold off on lollipop but the 4g version has 5.1 which fixes up a lot of the stupid issues and the battery is insanely good. my wife is a very light user and it goes 4 days without a charge.

It's okay. This forum allows more than one word to a sentence.

They didn't have any in my local Asda but then I didn't win the lottery this week either.

I had this problem too, google backup was to fault, but update at your own risk ..
After factory reset do not login to your Google account just yet. Power phone down and wipe cache. Then turn phone back on, DON'T sign into Google, turn off auto-backup in the settings / this is a little bit fiddly.. turn of Wifi etc.. This will allow the phone to use standard default settings and not import any faulty ones from your online backup, which may cause problems. Then log in. Update all apps etc. switch autobackup back on.. Worked wonders for me.. Enjoy.

this the 1st or 2nd gen phone?

are we better waiting for moto g 3rd gen next week or is 2nd gen just as good?

I am undecided. On one hand it seems a bit faster, battery life is good, and of course Android 5 looks quite nice. On the other hand it seems to run out of memory faster, so I get a lot of app restarting. I hope they bring out another update to fix that.

Anyone know where i can get a white one for the gf... asdas only seem to do black?

I can second you on this. It is so bad that I am thinking of changing phones. My phone often looses internet signal. The wifi hotspot which use to connect a different device from a different room now does not connect even if my phone is in the other side of the same room. The worst I have to say is the battery life. I use get by even if the phone was on 5% as long I did not use it but now drains even in stand by. Absolutely terrible.

you should install "ccleaner" and "Greenify" apps from the play store. Also google "what can i safely disable on moto g 4g" and go to apps and do that to the ones you dont use this will free up ram and stop those apps using up cpu cycles. Your phone will run like a beast!. ;-)
