Can't find this online - is it in-store only and if so, which store?

It is in-store. On Vodafone. It is also displayed on the aisle where they keep all their mobiles or you can ask a customer sales rep and they will help

Hows this compare to a rather knackered Nexus 4?!

Saw it for £95 yesterday in Asda. Will check in store tomorrow. Thanks OP

Nexus 4 has 2GB RAM and my friend still uses post upgrade to lollipop and it works very well, but he is a business user not much of social addict. This should be a good replacement if your Nexus 4 is on the verge of breaking. It is a good performer and as I stated in the post, worth every penny of 80 quid

I replaced my knackered Nexus 4 yesterday (In 2012 cost £390!!). Check out the OnePlus One if you want to get an equivalent 'price range' - that's what I got.
Otherwise the Moto G is lower spec, but a good value phone regardless.

I wish I could vote twice to counter both of these - ah well, at least my hot vote will counter one selfish "cold because I can't get it" vote. For goodness sakes can you please try to think will this deal help someone? If so vote hot - simple really!

Is there many of these left? I got one branded as Asda 6 months back.Retail. Unlocked no need for codes.

If the Nexus 4 still works then keep it going, both phones get regular updates to the latest version of Android. N4 has 2GB RAM and NFC, the camera is possibly better. I have an N4 still that has no resale value, and I keep it just to mess with ROMS on it. I have an S6 and I miss using the N4 even though it's very slow in comparison to the S6. I knew what I was getting in to with the S6, as in non stock Android and very few updates, I'll get in to modding it in the future though which will vastly improve it I hope.

Worth a upgrade on a s3?

Banned

yah im wondering how this compares to a galaxy s3?

These were originallhy running KitKat (Android 4.4).
How are your Moto G's running after upgradiing to Lollipop 5.0.2 (with the Motorola over-the-air updates)?
One of my friend's Mtot G (first gen 3G) is running much slower, upgrade kind of has ruined the phone (not sure if a factory reset would work)

This is a very good phone, probably the best in it's price range. Worth buying even at full price so this is a steal

The 4G version went straight to 5.1, so far so good.

It is quite rare, the phone itself is more than capable of handling lollipop and I have seen a couple of them with no problems. I have also seen one on Kit at getting laggy but that was because the user had too much apps and stuff on it. Deleting 2GB of apps he rarely used worked a charm and it was fast and snappy again...

I suppose with Art replacing Dalvik it increases the amount of storage needed for apps (but gives many other benefits...), anyhows I have yet to see a Moto g which after some cleaning and in worst case a factory reset isn't able to handle lollipop with ease. Obviously there should be no issues with a new one.

With regard to nexus 4 I don't think it is worth the upgrade, they are very similar in many ways and this is only about a year newer phone (except the 4g increment). So unless you simply want to get a new phone of comparable specs opo or even Moto x is a better option but does cost more...

I don't the performance is "worst". It is actualy very good. I never experience any lag while running/switching apps

Motorola Update Services has to be updated.

I have the 4G and my wife the original Moto G. Hers was very slow until factory update sorted it out.
My 4G used to have worse than expected battery life, Lollipop has drastically improved that.

Which store was this? You didn't mention this when replying to my 1st question - apologies for asking again but I have checked my 3 local stores and the price was more expensive than this (even got them to scan the barcode just in case but all came back at much more than £80).

Has anyone else managed to find one for this price at their local Asda?

Doubt it, probably a local deal. Needs to be verified

I was looking at this to update from a Nexus 4, but have decided to just keep the Nexus going. I have looked into the Sony E4G though at a similar price at Tesco, which aesthetically i prefer the look of. Anyone had one of those?

I've done the clear cache on my gen 1 Moto G still experiencing lag and frequent black screens. Lollipop... Meh.

my first gen Moto G was awful after the Lollipop update.... a factory reset has improved it, but still annoyed they've taken out features I liked.

This or attempt to fix the smashed screen on my existing Moto G? Anyone tried replacing the screen on one of these before?

Anyone recommend a sd card for this? I've had a class 10 Sandisk that worked for 3 or 4 days then said had to format and doesn't work.

The screen on my son's 1st gen is badly cracked. I asked at the local market stall (who usually do cheap replacements). They said it would cost more to sort the screen than replace the phone and so not worth the effort. YMMV.
