Moto G 4G unlocked/sim free for £89.00 in Tesco

Found 21st Mar 2015
Popped into Tesco in Cullompton (Devon) this afternoon and found the Motorola Moto G with 4G, unlocked, for £89.00 which seems to be quite a good price. Thought it might be worth a mention. I know nothing about the phone. Presumably it's national.

How come its unlocked? The Moto G I bought was locked to tesco.

it is a great phone and a great price. it is reduced because the new 5" version is out next week. but this is a good deal

Thanks for the info Djd1981

no problem. I have the non-4g one and waiting for new launch next week to upgrade. but anyone who is happy with slightly smaller screen will not get a better phone for the price in my opinion as new version is currently £150 on Amazon pre-order. heat added by the way op good find

Since when did a phone become a grocery?

Do you know if its 8gb or 16gb?

I don't think they do a 16gb

Sorry but I'm not sure. Is there some way to find out from the barcode number on the ticket? It's 076984924-0001/6947681518650/06 I think.

Since when did petrol, TVs, door mats, toilet brushes and Elsa dolls become groceries? (OK, I know the answer to the last one, but I want dates for the others).

This is the 1st Gen 4G model. There is only an 8GB version of this model, but it includes a Micro SD slot.

The 1st Gen 3G model (which was sold from 2013-2014) had 8GB and 16GB versions. which didn't have Micro SD slots.

The 2nd Gen 3G and 4G versions are both 8GB only (unless you live in Brazil, then it's 16GB for the 4G).

Hope that hasn't just confused everyone... blame Motorola if it has.

I started typing something like this but in the end I just couldn't be bothered to waste my time. I had to double check whether I'd accidentally submitted the deal under the "Groceries" category rather than "Mobiles" category (heaven forbid), but no, I had not.

Have you been asleep since the early 1980's?
Take a look at your local shops, many including Tesco's sell many things that aren't groceries...... I only discovered this a couple of decades ago.

You've never heard of Apple?

Will this come with KitKat or lollipo

Gollywood

Will this come with KitKat or lollipo

Mostly likely KitKat, Lollipop is over the air, update however Lollipop is broken until version 5.1.1 comes out, and who knows when that will be for the Moto G

It will come with fairy liquid and pedigree chum if you put them in your basket

The 1st gen moto g (3g) already has lollipop-so id guess itll come with kitkat out the box, and lollipop upgrade straight away.

I think it should have lollipop in the next few weeks. I'm still waiting for my update, but it says it is still the most up to date version. Either way it was guaranteed an update to Lollipop, so soon but Kit Kat for the time being.

Yeah what a load of rubbish they are

I paid £99 for this around a month ago from Tesco to replace a Nexus 4 that Lollipop broke!

You'll struggle to find a better phone for the money in my opinion!

My sister got one for £115 in-store today, any way to get price difference?

The soak test for lollipop started last week, so still a couple of weeks probably for 5.0.2. Supposedly Motorola have confirmed 5.1 for soon though.

Because Tesco, like many other suppliers sell subsidised handsets locked to their own network, and unlocked ones at a higher price.

Phew, was starting to worry there had not been a Moto G deal for at least 10 minutes

Yes I saw at this price but no stock. This is the sim free version the tesco one was still £115. They wouldn't give me the tesco one for this price.

How long before the entire population of the UK owns one of these? Bizarrely, I am yet to meet anyone who owns one.

Is there a club with meet-ups?

Yes there is a club but their first rule is you do not talk about it.

Me too but most people still have contract phones. And these are that cheap you might aswell buy a high end phone on contract. So these are mostly seen as pay as you go phones, not really offered on contract.

Because everyone has an iPhone it seems, or those that can't look away from their phones when out and about.

I think more people are realising that high-end contract phones are a rip-off.

I second that, I have a cheap pay monthly sim which leaves me £20+ richer every month with the freedom to choose when I upgrade my phone and what to

Tell your sister to marry me then I will pay the difference

Is this dual SIM?

Since when did a phone become a grocery?

it's essential like food

Paid £70 for one of these at Asda Brighton Hollingbury on Wednesday. They still have more.

Didn't bother posting due to the abuse previous posters of Asda reduced prices on this phone have had.

Got one of these on a tesco direct deal a few months ago (was about £120 though) & it's a nice phone. Only thing I don't like about it is its only 8gb. Person I bought it for doesn't use too many apps and no games so they're very happy with it
