i know they are trying to squeeze money out of us for everything but why cant they have a screen protector put on in the dust free factories? last motorola phone had a protective film on it which i left on the whole life of phone. had high hopes for this motorola too but no, they have writing all over it. have tried to put 3 on but I CANT DO IT, always a wee bit of dust or bubble, is ruining the experience of a brilliant phone.

ot: did other moto g users get headphones with the phone?

try these ones... i can assure u wont have problems like the cheap ones on ebay... for reference chk their popular iphone protectors.. almost every review mentions abt not getting any bubbles for the first time... i generally dont recommend any products but these guys have been the best i have tried :-)

we wouldn't have the like of Gorilla glass etc if they were to apply screen protectors as standards. I personally can't stand them, Gorilla glass does fine against scratches, it's what it's made for. A screen protector isn't going to stop your screen from smashing.

thanks dealbuster and koy, two differing opinions lol.

decisions decisions lol

You can just scratch off the Motorola logo and writing with your thumbnail (my gf did as I don't have long nails) to leave the original protector on. I'd removed mine before realising this but used this trick on the one we purchased for my sons crimbo gift

Moto g has gorilla glass so you don't need a screen protector.

What's the point in having a glass screen if you're going to put ugly scratchable plastic over it.

Brilliant - thank you I was looking for something like these.

The one's that came with the cases were terrible to fit... and actually a tiny bit to big so no way to fit right

Yeah they do but I still think they can be scratched I don't think ANY glass at the moment is totally scratch resistant and its peace of mind

Burgess85 is quite right. . . why waste money on a protector when you have a gorilla glass screen??

Shutup about gorilla glass. All these phones ive seen with 'gorilla glass' and scratches ruinibg the experince is beyond belief. Gorillaglass does not = completely scratch proof. Once you get a scratch how costly will it be to replace your screen? Or just save the hassle and buy a screen protector first

there is only good on this protectors call ZAGG but i guess they are not famous in the UK

Thanks, just what my OH was looking for.

Thanks OP. Ordered one of each as unsure which type I will prefer. Hope they fit better than the current one I am using from a case bundle deal.

Which type is likely to be the better one to use for the Moto G? Crystal clear seemed to be for iphone retina displays from my quick glance at that web page. The matt version may stop finger print smudges showing up.

Cheers OP, ordered 2x of each. Lets hope they are better than those crappy ones that come with the cases.

Crystal /clear on generic note are generally like invisible but you tend to get finger prints, on the other hand with anti glare you dont get finger prints. i use their anti glare on my phone and crystal on ipad mini and ipad 2. (planning to get AIR soon :-) ) over years of using several screen protector i have noticed their anti glare is one of the best kind of perfect balance between matte n clear

Matte screen protectors are awful and show pixelated-looking edges on everything. I don't touch them anymore.

For the person who was struggling to apply their screen protector, the failsafe trick I always use is to line up and Sellotape the screen protector to the right edge of the phone (completely unpeeled obviously), wash hands, polish the screen with a cloth (while the screen protector is hinged over like an open book) then when I'm happy that no dust is there, quickly whip the first cover away from the underside of the screen protector and let it fall into place on the phone. This just leaves the top protector and the Sellotape to peel away. I usually go outside to apply them as I never seem to get any dust that way.

To those who reckon Gorilla Glass is scratch proof, just go to Cex and look at their C grade phones. Saw an iPhone 5C there yesterday that looked like it'd been dragged across Britain on the underside of a piano. Those videos that show keys and knives failing to scratch the screen clearly don't tell the whole story.

The trick that you mentioned : perfect there are several accessories supplied with this brand which help you to achieve that no need of tapes etc

abt pixelated-looking try this brand if you have an iPhone and you would change your opinion :-)

I cracked my Nokia 720 by dropping it onto concrete, when I replaced the screen I kept the old one which has gorilla glass (2?). I have taken table knives to it and given it a good old going over, no marks left. It only got marks when I gave it to a 15 year old and he really went for it! I decide not to bother putting a screen protector on my new screen, no problems so far. I haven't bothered sticking one on the Moto and no marks yet either. I am looking forward to them releasing the motorola grip cases as they have a raised rubber type frame that allows the phone to be place face down.

What people don't realize is that YES the gorilla glass will protect your screen against keys and big scratches however it won'd do squat if you have small particles of sand or grit in your pocket, and that will definitely scratch your screen!
For the sake of £2-5 I would get a screen protector rather than a new glass.

The crystal clear is now £1.49 + 0.49 was just going to order

wrong there are many everyday items that scratch gorilla or any glass, even dust contains microscopic particles of sand that give those fine scratch lines you often find on phones,

Just got one on the £12.50 Tesco contract today.

Thanks for this. Hopefully they are here by Friday, for when my old number transfers over.
