So long budget Moto G
Good specs for the price to be honest, people just seem annoyed at it being a non budget phone: http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g4_plus-8050.php
SD 617 (8 Core)
2/3/4GB RAM

That's because of the Moto X line. No problems with the phone though.

Yeah this phone more fits that name but i quite like it
Moto G no longer the budget phone it used to be. They got greedy, no wonder Chinese phones are becoming popular now.

And too much fragmentation with the line. It got confusing with Moto G/4G Moto G 2nd/LTE but now we have many storage/RAM variants and the plus version oO

Lenovo owns them now, so this is a Chinese phone ;).
Lenovorolla choice is good
There is a lot of competition at that price point and imo a lot of phones that are much better t

There is still normal Moto G 169 for 16gb and 199 for 32gb just no fingerprint sensor, 13mp camera instead of 16.
They finally saw sense and got rid of the 8gb.
Yeah this is the Moto G4 Plus, the standard Moto G4 starts at £169.00

Moto E is the new Moto G and Moto G is the new Moto X.
wonder when we will see deals for 3rd gen on the cheap
Is it a dual sim? The above post says dual sim available but cannot see any options.
The Moto G Play comes out later (July?) and sounds like a cross between previous gen Moto G and Moto E. The line up IS getting confusing. I have a Moto X play, and the new Moto G plus sounds like it might be better
no nfc is that right?
So this or a LG G4 ??

I have a first gen Moto g that has served me well but is starting to get a bit long in the tooth so to speak .

A quick google suggests none.

I would have thought an LG G4 on almost every factor.

Confusing is right, it's almost as bad as the multiple variations of the Asus Zenfone 2.

So far we have 8 variations:

Moto G4 Play 1GB/8GB
Moto G4 Play 2GB/16GB
Moto G4 2GB/16GB
Moto G4 2GB/32GB
Moto G4+ 2GB/16GB
Moto G4+ 2GB/32GB
Moto G4+ 3GB/32GB
Moto G4+ 4GB/64GB

It says in the full spec "Dual-SIM (Available via Moto Maker)" only its not available as an option yet. Probably manufacturing the single sim models first?
UKWELCOME10 at checkout will knock a tenner off.

Where are you seeing the Moto G4 Play version?
I'm disappointed the Moto G range have no NFC and therefore no Android Pay support. Also, I was hoping the 4th generation would be waterproof like the 3rd generation.
Not sure why this has been down rated. This is a £200 phone and is a decent deal. It may not be fantastic but the standard Moto G still exists at the same £170 pride point.

Probably people are expecting this to be like the original Moto G from Tesco for £110 when it was first released.

It looks like they will get that with the Moto G4 Play. The 1GB version will likely be £110 or less. It looks to be essentially a Moto G3 with some extras removed to reduce price - i.e no waterproofing.

It's not available until July, but it was announced along with the G4 and G4+.

Specs: 5" 720p, 1.2Ghz SD410, 8MP. It's like a cross between the 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen Moto G's. It will be available for £139 for the 16GB version, or £109 for the 8GB version.

I cannot find any option on Moto Maker for dual sim.
well for £20 more you can get a oneplus 2 with much better specs or for about £130 less you can get a smart ultra 6 and not have a fingerprint scanner or marshmallow

Totally agree, almost the same spec as the Smart Ultra 6 but half the price.
Is the camera any good? Are there any reviews of it?
More megapixels does not necessarily mean better quality photos.

I've seen some good noises about it, but probably worth waiting for more on it. If it is good, it could be the main reason for buying one.
The new models seem to have omitted a compass sensor! Penny saving or what?! I can understand NFC but compass?! I'll be skipping this gen as I'm a heavy Google Maps user!

I'd be really surprised if they they've disabled Google Maps functionality

Motorola really don't have a clue what their customers want. Hedge your bets and release multiple variations a la Samsung a few years ago. Looks like a decent phone, though. Perhaps not the rock solid bargain it once was.

I think you're mistaken if you think Samsung have in any way stopped doing this.... A series, J series, S series, Note series, Edge, etc. etc. etc.

3rd gen now £79 @ Vodafone
