Moto G 4G is still first gen, the Moto G 4G 5" is the 2nd gen.

2gen got slot for 2 sim cards and bigger screen

And better camera

Absolutely nothing wrong with Moto G 4G camera. I took some lovely pics in Benidorm.

got this phone the other day for my mom. tesco now do a contract similar to o2 refresh so if you took out a contract and cancelled the airtime you can buy this phone for 84 quid but it means taking the contract out in the first place

its second generation moto G with 4G but 4.5" screen unlike other model with 5" screen. has memory card option to expand to 32GB. asda sells them for £60 if you are lucky to find one but locked to vodafone

The first gen camera will just about do ok in broad daylight...try taking it indoors or an action shot on a really gloomy dayand you're stuffed. The 2nd gen camera is a much more practical/flexible prospect by a long chalk - I've had both. Honestly, my old Huawei G300 had a better camera than the first gen G.

The camera is much maligned but mine is fine, especially considering the price. If I want print quality I use my.... er.... camera.

No it's NOT. It's first gen 4g version, the 2nd gen 4G version has *just* come out and is about the £150 mark and DOES have a 5" screen. Please check before posting incorrect information.

To clear up the confusion. There are 5 versions of the Moto G officially sold in the UK, not counting models imported from other markets. The model in this deal is in bold in the list below:

1st Generation:
3G 8GB XT1032: 4.5" Screen, 5MP Camera, No SD Card Slot (released Nov 2013)
3G 16GB XT1032: 4.5" Screen, 5MP Camera, No SD Card Slot (released Nov 2013)
4G 8GB XT1039: 4.5" Screen, 5MP Camera, Includes Micro SD Card Slot (released June 2014)

2nd Generation:
3G 8GB Dual SIM XT1068: 5" Screen, 8MP Camera, Includes Micro SD Card Slot (released Sept 2014)
4G 8GB Single SIM XT1072: 5" Screen, 8MP Camera, Includes Micro SD Card Slot, Increased battery capacity (released March 2015)

There are also Dual SIM versions of the 1st Gen 3G 8GB and 16GB models. These were sold in the UK, but were imported from other markets. There is also a Dual SIM version of the 2nd Gen 4G model which includes 16GB of internal storage (currently sold in Brazil).

Or in store sim free for £89

couldn't find this phone for less than 129 a few weeks back, the 4g with SD slot, so many get confused what ones what, had people saying its 89 in Argos, that was the moto E!

Someone in Motorola marketing department deserves to get the sack for the awful naming convention of their various models in this range. Must be costing them a lot of money in missed sales and confused customers.

I can only assume you've never tried to take a snap of a child indoors with it! Blur-tastic... They did a good job of improving it in the 2nd gen version and I was very glad I upgraded as a result - I'm not carrying round my Olympus PEN with me all the time!

Great phone, good price for sim free from Moto.... but agree, Moto have the most idiotic naming convention of any phone. So confusing for those that don't take notice of the finer details

out of stock.
