This is for the recently announced Moto G4 Plus.

Looks like a lot of phone for a great price. Plus you can make it cheaper by lowering the Storage space if 64GB is too much.

I was having a look as interested but cant see the dual sim option.

no mention of nfc which would be a huge fail given android pay.

no option for dual sim on uk moto maker, perhaps this an international only option no available in the uk?

Indeed!

just checked the reviews and it definately has no nfc. Sort of a big omission from a newly released phone.

And that slams the MotoG 150quid over the MotoG budget price target.

No NFC (given they cost nowt and even the original nexus7 tablet had it way back when).
But then how would they sell the MotoX or whatever it'll be called.
And it's lost its waterproof rating ...
And..

no stereo speakers

I think the waterproof rating and stereo speakers are not so much a deal breaker as nfc due to it being a core service android now offers.

15% off with unidays but both codes don't work together. I'm tempted but going to wait for the new Vodafone devices to be announced in the UK first which should be soon as there have released them in turkey.

More likely single sim were in production first.

And that slams the MotoG 150quid over the MotoG budget price target.

Not really as this is the Moto G4 Plus which is the most expensive, the Moto G4 starts at £169.00 and G4 Play will be cheaper (not sure if this will be available UK?)

It makes a mess of the line up.
Play = E
G=G
Plus just shouldn't be there and should all be in the X. Confusion in the range.

Best to wait till Tesco/Vodaphones etc get these in at proper pricing.

But OP, if you lower the internal storage, then you can only have the 2gb RAM version.

I've always been a big fan of the Moto G line - I bought the original one for my MOther as soon as it came out, but these phones are moving well away from what made the Moto G line great - solid, unspectacular specs at a super cheap price. They've gradually got more and more expensive and the 4gb plus model here is firmly in mid range territory and has very little to do with the Moto G's of the past. I guess it's all branding. After all, Motorola seem to be a long way behind Samsung and now, LG and have lots of other manufacturers snapping at their heals.

Not for me, Google Pay is insignificant as it easy enough to use my card as I already do. Or sellotape it to the back if I really want to pay with my phone.
Now to waterproof one of these is going to add considerable bulk and if you are already used to it then it will soon be missed.

*Or look a lot messier sticking waterproof tape all over it ;-)

I would say they are trying to kill the traditional G market off and push them over to the lenovo branding...

The point I was trying to make is that even on a budget device, its inexcusable to omit a component that ultimately costs very little, and is a part of the google ecosystems core functionality.

If they dropped Moto X and Moto G from the model names I might see your point, don't find it in the slightest bit confusing.

hmm IMO this is very overpriced (regardless if whether it has moved away from the originals budget raison d'être)

The spec seen here for £250 is about £50 more than it should be anyway. this or a oneplus 2?

Cold. no NFC.

Now that Moto is owned by Lenovo, I wonder what would be the quality of these phones

They have been for the last two generations as well, just dropping the Motorola branding. Only gen actually under Google was first gen...

I believe it's still the Motorola from before, just owned by a different company. Obviously there's a possibility for quality to be effected but it doesn't look like it.

Big miss by Lenovo not to include NFC in the latest Moto range. Android Pay will be expanding fast.

Everyone I have spoken to doesn't like the idea. Its not a make or break tbh

Call me an old reactionary if you like but I think I would prefer not to be able to pay for things with my phone - I lose it far more often than I lose my cards!

Without your finger, it's useless as a payment device.

Any other comparable phone with 4+64Gb (or similar) available to buy in the UK at present for similar money?

Oneplus 3 perhaps due out soon? But no MicroSD slot it would appear.

Would prefer not to buy a phone from China/the Far East.

Motorola state that if you buy the 4th generation Moto G plus from their web site, then by default it will be a dual sim phone.
Also I could not get UKWELCOME10 to work for me, but it did track through Quid co instead.
Moto g plus, 32gb 2gb ram, dual sim, own choice of colours £229.

So, after all the cribbing about this phone not having this, that or the other & being supposedly over-priced, no one can suggest a similar-specced phone for the money available to buy in the UK at present?

Moto g plus, 32gb 2gb ram, dual sim, own choice of colours £229.

If that's the one you went for, surely double the internal storage+ram for only ~£35 extra would've definitely been worth it, right?

Difference between this and the Moto x style? Cheers.

No NFC. No Android Pay. No wireless charging. A pointless upgrade.

People mention no NFC for android pay... Personally iv had Apple Pay since it was out, and the number of times iv used it I can count on one hand. It's seems like a good idea at first but it's a gimmick for the best part, and with contactless you can easily live without it imo

Banned

looks nice one.. will probably wait till it drops in price to some £100/used for this , until than, 3rd gen moto g what I have will do just fine for me

great spec

I've seen alot of reviews and videos about this handset. Early batches have been suffering overheating whilst using the camera and the phone then becomes unresponsive, slow, laggy and even the camera view finder stutters. I'd wait a while till Moto fix it if they ever do

I fail to understand your reasoning?.

Is not Lenovo a quality Brand anyway?, or ..... (I think it is?) :-)

Ive just gone through moto maker and it shows out of stock. So you cant buy one anyway so all the arguing over NFC doesn't mater, ill stick with my SGS6 edge its still a better handset than this and costs more.

It looks like a nice phone.

To join lthe argument about nfc and wireless charging, I have had phones with both and phones with none and I barely ever used either, my current phone has both... I much prefer faster charging over wireless charging tbh and Android pay while it might be interesting I find it hard to imagine many situations where it may be helpful, I mean most people take their card with them, and taking the phone out is about the same effort as taking the card.

Once phones can be used everywhere normal cards can then I would agree but that does not seem to be that close in my experience... (very few smaller shops accept nfc)

Few quid more (or less if your lucky) gets you a G4.

fizz

no stereo speakers

No sub either.
