In the long run don't these loophole manoeuvres just bump up the costs for everyone else?

I may be wrong, just a thought.

In what way?
Does the phone come locked to 02?
Does this really work??

Can't see how they would let you keep the phone if you cancel the sim.....

Unlocked. Sim free. Sim contract is separate.

I have done it with the moto x4 and it worked. Sim contract is separate to phone.
Possible quidco/tcb ?
So, who do you cancel with, O2 or CPW? Who do you have Direct Debit agreement with?

You cancel with 02 and direct debit agreement is with 02.

You can give it a shot but ime not 100% sure about that.

Does this only apply to the moto G5, or can I choose a different handset and do the same thing?
I thought only o2 could sell the refresh contract. 3rd party sellers are the traditional type of contracts
@WajAllRound do I have to register with O2 first in order to cancel the SIM only element or can I cancel straight away after receiving the phone ?

Step by step.

1. Order with carphonehouse

2. Receive phone

3. Ring 02 and state you wish to cancel "02 sim only contract as you are no longer interested in the sim". Do not say anything about phone.
Step 4 wait 3 to 6 months when DSG group don't get there kick back from 02 and ask you for the phone back or the price difference between the current SIM free price of the phone. No doubt your credit score will be affected by this activity as you didn't complete the contract on DSG terms etc. All for a initial saving, lovely.

What sim plan did you use for the moto x4. It is available with no upfront payment, surely that does not work to cancel and get the phone for free!

It works with the 12 month 02 plan. For moto X4 i used upfron 99.99 and 36.00 per month for 12 months on 02.
I would be a bit wary of doing too many of these deals and effecting credit rating. Even if it works. I too did it for moto x I got chat confirming this is fine so they can't ask for the phone back as I got it confirmed I am allowed to do this.

Glad it worked out for you. I'm still puzzled as only o2 sell o2 refresh deals or did you just cancel in the 14 day cooling off period

This is not a refresh deal as only o2 can sell them due to credit agreement law. This is a phone and a sim only deal where both are separate things. You a basically buying the phone as a sim free and then adding a sim deal. Like I said i contacted online chat to confirm this but I would recommend you try doing the same to cover your back.

Thanks. I see the idea now.
This will also work with the "Huawei P8 lite 2017" which currently only works out at £30 upfront cost which is good as the original price of the phone was £229, and by the reviews it appears to be better than the moto G5.

Have you checked your credit rating since doing this? You can do it free on Noddle. It will show you all of your past accounts, including phone companies.

I've just got the Huawei p8 lite 2017, for £30, who do I need to call now to cancel the 12 month SIM part, o2 or carphone warehouse please?

That's available for £49 upfront now. BUT I DON'T NEED A NEW PHONE!
So does this only work on 12 month contract phones? Some of the 24 month contract sim / phones are £0 upfront!

This thread is open to everyone. So if I wish to express my opinion, I am free to do so.

The answer to your question has been given several times... I do not claim to speak for the OP, but I'm sure I & many others get slightly frustrated when people either do not take the time to read previous comments, be it from the OP or the other contributers, in order to share/learn or hopefully get a good deal.

In the long run, isn't that what we are all here for???

Believe me, I truly am thrilled when deals/chances for a good deals come along & people are kind enough to let others benefit from their good fortune & yes, some people do need a little more help than others, but it's nice when there is some progression in the thread.

Your aggressive tone is uncalled for & quite frankly insulting to anyone who expresses an opinion & their right to free speech on this forum.
