Are you expecting it to be free in a Christmas cracker by December?
December 2023? Yes.
Had the G3 & now I've the G4 & it suffers from screen burn, but this G5 has no NFC & why are most phones still only 16gb internally, operating system takes up a vast amount of it, bung a few apps on, then that's it, nearly full

it was £119+10 at CPW on BF AFAIK...
Avoid - screen cracks really easily, no gorilla glass.

It's been £89.99 on O2 before and ~£1.80 to unlock...
The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 is a much better choice at only a few quid more.

A few years ago, Motorola smartphones were the ideal budget choice if you were on a budget.

Nowadays, it's Huawei who have captured the budget, mid-range and flagship markets.

But I will say there are many people who also like to buy from overseas sellers like AliExpress, where you can get good spec no warranty phones for around £100, but personally I like having two year warranties and someone to talk to in the UK if anything happens.

So yeah, with the plague of issues affecting Motorola recently, it would be insane not to get a Huawei P8 Lite 2017 for just a few extra quid.

My bad, I thought we were talking about decent prices and how this isn't really such a great price. Thought it was hukd, not bfnostalgia

Couldn't agree more Preecey.

In the days when Moto were owned by Google, they were the king of the budget phones. Now owned by Lenovo, updates are few are far between. Huawei, have got better with respect to updates and offer better hardware for similar money. Even there OS and bloat are far less intrusive.
So is this better than the Honour 6X? Huawei? Or other budget phones? I don't really use apps. Mainly use phones for surfing web and taking pictures. Sub £200 what is best out there? I assume this phone I can slot any sim into it?
Is the phone open to all networks?

Get the phone at Carphone Warehouse with a 12 month sim on o2 £36 per month and they will charge you just £20 upfront or £30 for the p8 lite, wait 24 hours and call o2 to cancel the sim, and cancel your direct debit straight away. Also ask o2 for a email to say that you have cancelled, so that you have something in writing.

Would they not ask for the phone back too? I can understand doing this on a 1 month rolling contract as there is no real phone subsidy. However, on 12M contracts the phone is heavily subsidised.

Also, I'm not too sure if cancelling early would have a negative impact on credit rating?

This is all legal, when you do this, you affectivley have two parts to it, your only contract with o2 is the ‘12 month sim only’ part. You have already paid your £20 upfront for moto G5 or get the Huawie p8 lite 2017’ for just £30 upfront. This should not affect your credit rating, just make sure to cancel it about 24 hours after you get the phone, and you will be ok because you are still within your 14 day cooling off period.
Thanks

It doesn't have to be exactly 24 hours, I'm just that because that's how long I left it when I cancelled my sim, but I would do it no later than 3 days after you get the phone, that way you know your still within your '14 day cooling off period', also I would get the huawie p8 lite 2017 for £30 upfront instead of the Moto G5, I have it and it's a much better phone.

Quick update for you and everyone else on here, the P8 lite upfront cost has now gone up from £30 to £90 overnight. The next phone I can see that will work out for £30 is the Nokia 3.
