For £90, show me something better?! Set one of these up for an elderly relative in November, awesome kit for the money... she loves it! Quite a clean UI from memory, absolutely no bloat on it out of the box. I think it gets quite regular updates too.

A no brainer if you're in the market for a budget device with NFC, big battery etc.

Heated OP!
Come on Tesco, G8 is available now. 69 or 79 quid would've been a bit more reasonable.

Good phone at a good price, wife's had one for a year and no problems also has a good battery life

My wife has one too, brilliant for her use. I have an s9 samsung from work, yes it looks sleek but the battery is no where near as good as this. One thing it cant do is use one of those star apps where you point at the night sky and it locates the stars in the sky. Someone more technical will state what that feature is. A great phone for the price.
Bought refurb from Argos for just over £60 last year. Really good phone, very pleased with it. The only problem was i had to change my provider from EE to O2. Phone just wouldn't connect to EE, poor signal strength.
Also got a refurb Argos one for £62 last year

It's ok but feels a little sluggish as 3gb and fairly basic processor doesn't help. It's ok for £60 but if spending £90-100 I'd put that towards something else. £120-130 can get you a Honor 4gb phone refurb from Argos

Also some apps like Santander take an age to load on G6 play and National Rail won't even work properly

There's nothing as good as this available from a UK seller for under £100

I think EE have a Huawei for £99 . Similar battery 4000mah and 3gb ram

Personally I just wouldn't recommend the G6 play. Your £90-100 would be better spent elsewhere
hi, nigelbutler any link fir the Huawei for £99
Headline shows 4000mAH battery, detailed spec shows 3000 - which is correct?
Excellent phone for the money. I had one for a year and it was great. Camera not bad in good light either. Battery is immense. Great deal

I think the description/specs pasted above are for the G6, however the phone advertised is the G6 Play. Argos have the G7 Play for a tenner more.

No UK g7 has NFC :(. I'd rather the g7 play with NFC even if the battery is worse but it's not an option here.

Don't get me started on Lenovo and their barmy NFC strategy.

"it beats up g7 Play by everything and no notch"

I can't find any professional review that agrees with you. For example:

"It's time to upgrade The Moto G7 Play is an obvious choice if you're rocking the Moto G6 Play. You're going to lose out on a little bit of battery life, but the overall experience is so much better."

That review is a joke. It says one of the benefits is better cameras, then lists the G6 Play + point that it has the exact same cameras.

Other than a better processor, ther other benefits appear to be 'design' and USB-C charging, both of which don't outweigh a much bigger battery and cheaper price point imho.

If you look at gsmarena's reviews, the G7 Play does better in its battery tests than the G6 Play, despite a smaller battery.

I've had this phone for about 6 months, OK value, but would not overly recommend. Connectivity to wireless or cellular often dropping out Wifi won't connect to some networks (lenovo forums), Audio has some bad bugs since last update (lenovo forums). These are known issues but Lenovo has failed to address them. Other than that it's OK, I generally use without wifi to improve connectivity, and had to do a long winded hack to get the audio "fixed", but audio still not great.

I tend to agree. I'm currently using the G6 Play.
Battery is ok in standby but terrible with standard everyday use.
WiFi is patchy at best, regular hang ups and it doesn't pick up 5ghz signal.
(My Xiaomi mi max 2 WiFi compared to this is night & day)
It suffers with ghost touches and quite a few freeze ups.
If using for literally the very basic of tasks and not hitting it with too many apps it'll be fine but anything slightly taxing it struggles.
I got mine for £49 via a refresh deal via this site so I'm more than happy with its limitations at this price point but if I were looking for something at the £100 mark I'd definitely look elsewhere.

Exactly. It's not a very good phone really. Not snappy enough imo to warrant close to £100.
Think people will be disappointed buying this.
Id look at the Motorola Macro about £140 it's got 4gb ram and looks and feels nice. Had a play in the shop and apps load quickly like YouTube and Google Maps

Ok I know it costs more but for an extra £50 you'd get a much better phone

Not surprising really. As I alluded to in an earlier post the G6 play uses a 28 nm processor. The G7 play uses a 6 series @ 14 nm. Adds up to a significant difference in power efficiency.

Modern flagships (not that this is flagship) have realised that bigger batteries are difficult to achieve due to sheer size, so they've focused on power efficiency instead. Anyone thinking bigger battery = longer lasting only has one element of the equation.

Useful, but I still don't see the value proposition between them justify the difference in price. £89 for this phone with 2 year warranty is excellent value. It ran every game or app I threw at it. Only switched because I wanted something with a better camera
