GMS arena says the compass is market dependent, the lack of compass has put me off Moto G phones since I had the G4+ and found the lack a real pain when in a city using the sat nav to walk around (and spend much wasted time going the wrong way as GPS alone is not good enough for walking)
I know it's all about saving money but don't get why some markets get the compass and some don't...very odd,.surely it's cheaper to make one phone for an entire region rather than multiple model variants.
I deserted Moto and got a Xiaomi note 5 - never thought I'd do that but the phone is superior in most respects to the Moto equivlients, sadly.
270 PPI is quite low. I guess it will further help it's endurance. We need another Lenovo P2.
Yeah maybe they get a perverse satisfaction knowing we're walking around in circles
It's crazy because there must be a market for them.
I was going to joke that soon we'll be going back to the days of people have holsters for their phones but it is already a thing!
I'm not seeing it
Look deeper.
Just shows how well xiaomi phones are designed, that max 3 looks bloody gorgeous compared to the moto monstrosity
Ok
Too deep?
Jesus. I'm surprised that made it past the smut filter. Shame on you.
I'd say no. Try a sd660 phone or 636.
Big mistake when I bought g4 plus and didn't have compass I regretted it when I needed it
Its a much better phone
Me too, when wandering about in Boston, going around in circles!
Has e been officially released yet, pre order
Release date = 1 March
Cheers, ordered mine. Hope it will be just as good as my old P2.
It'll be fine unless you need to find your way around or pay for things with your phone.
Personal opinion,
I've never had a phone with a compass. I walk around a lot when travelling using Google maps. Never failed to find anything, I simply look around me and orient the map accordingly. The screen can turned with my fingers.
As for NFC it's not difficult to put a contactless card in your pocket. Whenever in a shop I often manage to pay and walk away before the NFC fan on the next till whups out their phone and fiddle with it to pay. I guess it's useful if you really don't want to carry your card / wallet around but obviously if your battery dies without a card on you then you aren't going to be paying for anything.
Agree you can live without them but both are useful features. If you use phone as satnav having no compass is annoying as you have to start driving before it orientates itself. NFC is useful to have a backup payment method.
Still don't understand why Lenovo don't include both. How much does a compass chip cost? As for NFC, it was on Moto g6 so why remove it from this?
Agreed, quite frustrating when a supposed higher model has less features. Doesn't make sense.
Errrm......Not quite
Enjoy :o)
Not exactly.
We're gonna get the best of both!
Sounds like me in winter and summer
