I know I was being silly. But the M30 has 6000mAh so hopefully will last 5 days +. Shame it's only for India, no idea why Samsung and the rest haven't figured out that battery capacity / life is many people's no.1 specification for phones (and not thinness!)
@MrSwitch or anyone.. Are there any midrange phone releases on the horizon to look out for? I was awaiting the release of Xiaomi A3 but didn't go for it as specs were disappointing. Pocophone has been tempting me as well but can't get myself taking a 'risk' with MIUI.

Try Samsung A series maybe?

Believe me, there is nothing wrong with MIUI. You can use nova launcher for a more personal experience and then further make it bespoke by using SwiftKey keyboard and zedge wallpaper and ringtones. Love my pocophone. Only thing to tempt me away is the MiMix 4 5g.

Do you want compact or big?

Do you want compact or big?

Compact if possible but willing to compromise Anything above 6.3" is definitely a no-go for me though

Galaxy A40? Only 69mm wide, great screen (AMOLED), though plastic back and only middling performance. Or A50 is bigger and faster.

Nokia 7.1? Not exactly news, but you're going to be able to get it way cheaper than the 7.2. 71mm wide, better camera and materials than A40. I'm not 100% convinced that Nokia's android one is reliably bug-free, despite the frequent updates and near-stock android.

2nd hand / refurb Huawei P20 or Honor 10? Will blow the others out of the water, if you don't mind 2nd hand.

But really, for the best value...stick with Xiaomi and deal with MIUI and get either Mi 9 SE for compact, or Mi 9T if you don't mind going bigger. Or Redmi Note 7/8 if you want cheaper and bigger.
Says dual sim and NFC which I'm not 100% sure is correct but I've gone for it at this price. Thanks @MrSwitch for all your helpful info and great posts.

Ah, you're right! It's the M30s that has 6000mAh. So many models this year for Samsung, what are they thinking?!
