So it has landed! Finally a phone with a decent battery capacity. I cannot wait to sell my 8 month old Galaxy S6 for a phone with nearly 1000 mAh more.

So potentially you could get it for around £313. Hmm... this or the OnePlus 3?

toughy really. Boils down to what you want the most, battery life is obviously a huge advantage on the moto, but the OP3 is a solid piece of kit overall. If youre happy charging every night then id go for the oneplus 3 myself.

£314.48 including postage. I believe the OnePlus 3 is around £329. Not sure whether postage is additional.

I had the OnePlus One, and I rated it highly. However, my needs are different, and I would much rather spend less time worrying about how much battery life I have left. I don't play games, so my needs are mainly web browsing, YouTube and other streaming, thus this is perfect for me.

At last....a Moto that has everything in one phone...decent camera, decent battery, fingerprint sensor and NFC. Now to wait for it to come down in price.

I really want a good camera. I'm not that fussed with charging over night. I was after the LG G4 but the price of that phone isn't dropping! There aren't many reviews of the Moto Z Play and the OnePlus 3 camera hasn't done well in most reviews.

OP3 is flagship spec phone, this is mid range spec phone. There is no comparison really. You can only compare the OP3 with it's older sibling the moto Z. motorola.co.uk/pro…o-z

Is there only one version of Moto Z or different ones like with X and X Play, one being inferior to the other?

Three versions I think. Moto Z which is the flagship. Then there is the Moto Z Force which is the durable version. Then there is the Moto Z Play the slightly lower spec and higher battery capacity one which is the one this deal is about.

Was thinking the same thing. Gold OP3 is out of stock at the moment or id have ordered one a few days ago. OP3 has double the ram but i think im going to go for this if it doesnt come back into stock soon especially for £314 thats not bad at all.

Moto Z is the flagship. Force has better camera, bigger battery and "shatterproof" screen. The bigger battery comes as a cost of a thicker and heavier handset (compared to Moto Z). The "shatterproof" screen is apparently made fom some sort of Perspex, which makes it prone to scratches. The Force hasn't been announced for the UK market yet. Both of these DO NOT have a 3.5mm headphone jack-they come with a USB C to 3.5mm adaptor.

The Play is the entry level model, albeit with the biggest battery of all. And it keeps the 3.5mm headphone port.

The killer for me is the microsd expandable memory up to 2 TB for all your media needs...

I may have a spare student discount code if anyone is interested...

Does this have wireless charging?

No. I think one of the battery mods does, and the phone can be charged wirelessly when it is attached.

Thanks I think that's cool and one of the reasons why this phone looks so good due to the mods. One more question does it have front facing stereo speakers?

Just the one speaker at the top I believe. I don't think they would have invested in stereo speakers as they expect people to buy the JBL speakers mod instead.

I disagree, look at real world performance, actual features, price and the moto z play should be considered along side the oneplus 3

I would look more towards longevity, they may run side by side in real world performance today but in a year or so the Moto's already low midrange SoC and GPU will be showing its age against the OP3. Especially if you're in to games or a power user. I think at this price the Moto should have been running the 650/652 not the 625. for me the Moto Z Force is the only phone Lenovorola are producing that can sit aide by side with the OP3/Axon 7's of the world and it's nearly twice the price.

great find OP, batter on Oneplus 3 is pretty bad, sold it after 2 moths
@Kunal21, definitely interested if you have a spare code

You got me on performance, even though some reviewers mention next to no difference in performance between the entire Z range, but i think with moto's light skin on top of android and regular updates means it should be fine, performance wise for at least two years.

While the axon 7 and oneplus 3 have poor battery life which will only get worse after years of use, the moto z play already has among the best battery life as is, add a moto battery mod and your laughing.

I would take a weaker SoC and better battery life (which can be augmented) over superior performance with poor battery life that will only get worse, there is still no battery case for either the 7 or OP3 btw

Sniff sniff nothing in my mail

I think you undersell the battery life of the oneplus 3, owning one myself and seeing gsmarena battery life test at 66h which is in the average to slightly above average range I would say that it's quite adequate, you can easily get a day out of it and the dash charge is very similar to quick charge 3.0. I don't plan on owning the phone longer than 2 years so I shouldn't see too much deterioration in the battery life, especially if my oneplus one is anything to go by.

Personally I'm not sold on moto mods as I like to keep my phones in a case that protects the whole thing and they seem to leave the front of the device unprotected which is a big no no for me. But each to their own. I do think if you want more for your money you're best off going for the OP3 at a lesser price than this but still I cannot fault your reasoning, I loved having the Lumia 1520 that thing would last for days on a single charge..
