Nice phone

Razor thin with a sleek metal design, the Moto Z from Motorola is built to be bulked out with the brand's Moto Mods, which will transform your device into a movie projector, boombox and battery powerhouse. On its own the Moto Z is still forged to impress as it measures only 0.49cm in depth and fitted with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, low-light 13-megapixel camera and fingerprint reader for advanced security.

Power to play
The Moto Z has the ultra-powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 processor, which when coupled with a 4GB RAM allows you to stream videos, play games and multitask without delay or interruption.

Capture the moment
The 13MP main camera is designed with optical image stabilisation and laser autofocus to allow you to take stunning images in any light, so you can confidently capture all those special moments. Single or group selfies won't be a problem either as the Moto Z has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide-angle lens and extra flash for evening shots.

Good price for this phone (its not a top phone, but for 50% the price of a top phone I think its a good deal)- there was a deal a few days ago at the same price but that expired. I didn't want to miss it again so have bought this!
Thanks!
I bought this for £299 with a free Moto Mod speaker at Carphone Warehouse a few weeks ago. Great phone. Only downside is the lack of a headphone jack (adapter supplied with phone).

Moto Z 2 is on the way and Motorola have committed to releasing a load more Moto Mods that will be backward compatible with Moto Z 1st gen.

Well done for mentioning the lack of a headphone Jack. No problem for some but a deal breaker for others.

cracking phone, solidly constructed, the battery lasts a day after nougat update unless you're using it really heavily. camera is great too.
Just remember you probably would need to buy the battery pack with this phone according to reviews. Its only a 2,600mAh.
The Moto battery cover pack is £60 rrp which is a lot. So its either that or a powerbank.

It is a good deal, but I prefer slower with a better battery life, so the Lenovo P2 is tempting me.
Been waiting ages for the JBL sound boost mod to drop below £40 but it keeps going up in price

tbh honest the sound isn't that great from it. I prefer the sound from my anker blue tooth spkr which I got for 20 quid at Xmas from amazon.
More than happy with mine, paid 300 with the speaker mod.

Yes the battery isn't the best but in my eyes the ability of the Turbo charge more than makes up for this.
Performing well and I've found myself using the speaker a lot!

I actually prefer the size of the phone with the speaker attached lol

depends on how heavy a user u are plus this phone comes with a fast charger. 80 % charge in 20 mins or so.
does this suffer from the pink line screen issues like the other Motorola flagships?
Tasty tasty, chupa chups.

No such issues.

Battery is good on its own and lasts about a day. Excellent phone and the price is amazing for something that comes with 2 year warranty from a retailer.

Very HOT.

Adding the Incipio battery pack can give you up to 3 days off one charge!!!
Never found anywhere that stocks the battery mod, and Motorola constantly delay the launch of their own...hopefully will be out when the Z2 launches in a few months time
i saw a good magazine review for the moto g5 - the reviewer said it had the second-best camera on the market (only exceeded by the google pixel - if a good camera is important for you).

This mod would make this phone out of this world.
Shame it didn't have many backers

I got this last time it was on offer.

It has rubbish battery life when connected to a 5GHz WiFi network... Around 2.5h SOT.
If I connect to 2.4GHz WiFi or stay on Mobile data I get between 3.5 and 4h.

Brilliant phone, had one but dropped it on tiled floor and screen broke. Ordered a new screen... but thanks to this deal have now ordered the complete phone!
John Lewis should be the ONLY shop you buy from, their warranty service is second to none. I menti
https://images.hotukdeals.com/comments/content/KzVOZ/30995549.jpgon this because Motorola/Lenovo's warranty repair service is absolutely rubbish. In short, My Moto z blew it's bluetooth motherboard - should have sent it back to John Lewis, didn't - was assured by moto/lenovo that they don't send refurbished phones back,,,, they did,,,, but worse than that they sent a bent phone back that worked with bluetooth, but speaker vibrated and the repair quality was pathetic. Company they use is called Anovo (look it up on internet). The phone also needed a mobo replacement so a new IMEI was given. 2nd time sent to them to fix the poor refurb and they had the phone for 6 weeks, finally sent it back with a slightly straightened but still bent chassis and a new bent speaker foil to fix the "vibration". Finally, I contacted John Lewis, mentioned my phone's IMEI wouldn't be what they sold me. They completely took me away from this hell and replaced my phone with a brand new Moto z within 24 hrs! Massive KUDOS to John Lewis. Avoid ALL motorola devices (whilst owned by lenovo) at all costs unless you purchase through JL.com.
dont know whether to get this currenty own a note 4
will they match this instore
Got JL to pricematch CPW with the Speaker Mod a few weeks ago @ £299.
Fast phone and still is even with lots going on.
Great Battery Life, even when connected to 5GHZ WIFi.
Speaker Mod is very good, just wish there was phone case that encapsulated the whole unit when attached.....!!
A great phone for £300, not worth spending double on a S8 or G6 etc
RedRain

Should be this price instore, if not tell them the online price.
Lenovo are crap though. Google should have maintained ownership of the brand.

No idea why anyone would buy this when you can get a smartphone with a newer Snapdragon processor for half the price from one of the Chinese sites!

I wish there was a simple rear panel (magnetic, of course) with a hinged front flap (for screen protection) attached.

Has anyone found such a thing?

I got this phone a couple of months ago on a previous John Lewis deal. While there are undoubtedly better phones out there, I doubt there is a better phone with a 2 year UK warranty at this price point.

I'd suggest you hold off buying a battery mod for a bit. Unless you are a heavy 3D gamer or Daydream VR user, you might just find the battery life is acceptable for you.

Most of the reviews were done before this phone got the Android 7 update. Android 7 doze is exceptional at managing the battery life.

I easily get mine to the end of the day (of mixed use) without needing a top up charge.

Those that are reporting terrible battery life on this phone (who are not spending hours in VR), may simply have downloaded a badly written app which is draining their battery.
