Just watch your front mudguard if it goes a long way around your front wheel, most don't admittedly.

Without sounding thick is it just for security?

I hope not, stick a little dolly under this and it won't be hard to wheel the bike away.... so definitely need to think about additional security.

What's it's purpose then just to hold it upright in position is it, I'm trying to work out if I need it and what I'd use it for
Very good price! Great for transporting and storage

Yeah to hold the bike upright.
Good for transporting in vans also.
Thought it was a gaming rig from a glance

Handy if you're tight on space in the garage.
On the drive too if secured.
Transport in van already mentioned.

Best use I reckon is to take a run up to a running bike, hop over the rear into the seat and ride off into the sunset.

Does anyone know if this alone would hold a bike up (KTM Duke 2)? I don't have a rear stand.

Thanks
Anyone else look at the picture and think it was a racing seat?

Will just about do - but you're probably better to get a rear stand if you don't need to move the bike in a van/on a trailer.
These are generally designed to be used with straps holding the bike down at the same time and aren't designed to hold a bike that stably without them.

I went for one of these - 40791710-etAtA.jpg - which is around twice as much, but was worth it to my mind; is used in a van.
I thought this was a gaming chair

Bugger, won’t fit my ‘blade original 16” front wheel then
Thought a out it for a bit and thought I don't need it.

But then I realised it's a small price not to have to ask my wife to hold the bike upright while I out it on the rear paddock stand... Especially after she dropped my old 600

You could give it a go and it may fit if you're just out by an inch.

I've just bought for the same reason. I can get the bike up onto the rear stand on my own but I've scratched the swingarm enough times not to want to.
... Except my wife hasn't dropped my bike

Couple of decades ago, I made the mistake of parking my car in Hackney (London) for a weekend... this is not far from what was left of it.
Wish I had bought 2 now.
