Motorola G5 Plus £229.99 Currys

£229.99Currys Deals

Found 24th May 2017
Snapdragon 625, Android nougat, 32 GB memory, and a rear camera sensor comparable to galaxy s7 albeit with no ois

Unclear what the RAM is on this version, and Currys mentions compass which I don't think it is. I've been waiting for this price to fall, but if it doesn't have a compass that would really bug me

Is this phone bad value for money with UK warranty, or is it available cheaper elsewhere?
Just to say, the G5 is going to get an incremental upgrade in Summer, the G5S and G5S plus. Lenovo has ruined Motorola, but I guess it's worth the wait since apparently the processors will be considerably better
A bit too expensive considering the Lenovo P2 @ £209 from the three store unlocked. The G5 probably has a better camera but everything else is better on the P2.
I would avoid Moto / Lenovo ..... CS is a joke as is the RMA process!! Imo
the actual phone is good and the price is lower than it has been for a while so good deal

Agreed
Ordered last night at £249.99. Phoned them when I saw this and rebated £20! Happy!!
Anybody know if this is the dual sim version?
How many ram it has?
How come this is getting down voted so much? Is there a G5 Plus anywhere else for as cheap or less?

The price is kept high in the UK because of the exclusive deal with currys/cpw I would guess. The lenovo P2, in the opinion of many here, is a cheaper "better" value alternative, except it is an older handset with a significantly less good camera. The G4 Plus is still on sale at Amazon for around 165, and that makes this look pricey still. Others think buying phones direct from China is better value, albeit at the cost of losing warranty. Some dislike it because the manufacturer updates and warranty process leaves much to be desired. I think that probably covers most reasons.
I want a phone with a good camera for around this price, and although I don't like this not having a compass, I'm not sure I can find any good alternative

I'm after the same mate, budget android with the best camera I can get and the G5 plus seems to be it (so I get bored of all the P2 chat!). However, I'm having a real internal argument with myself about just plumping for the Redmi 4 Prime (sometimes referred to as Pro) from AliExpress/China. Almost identical specs apart from the camera is weaker - but, it's £100 less if you don't get snagged with customs. It's also got a Global Ram released now. Oh, and a compass! (Why oh why doesn't the G5 plus have a compass ffs!)

I'm coming from the Lumia 925 which is turd for aps and battery (and compass), but aces for camera.

Hopefully I'll keep deliberating and a new soopadoopa budget kickass camera comes along in the UK for less than 100 notes lol

Totally agree. I had a couple of Windows phones too, and there was so much they got right about the operating system, but the total lack of third party support killed it for me. Real shame.

It's not even little quirky aps missing, it's mainstream big corps that can't be bothered to put out aps. It's very frustrating, especially since I've got my onedrive going etc. Such a shame.

Thanks for the heads up, but at the moment details are scant and there are more questions than answers, not least the following. 1. How many months will we have to wait before hitting the UK shops? Are there going to be exclusive tie ins once again on the desirable models to suppress price competition once again? Will the price of the G5S Plus be too high and heading towards Moto Z territory? Isn't 5.5 inch screen size an admission that the screen size is not too big after all? Will it come with 4GB configuration and compass? How much better will the processor be to the Snapdragon 625? So many questions..
Well I voted this hot. My wife currently has an s6 and filled it up with photos. She wants a phone with a really decent camera but I dont want to pay samsung money for it. This fits the bill with a nearly as good camera performance as my s7 edge and expandable storage.

I get discount on buying vouchers for currys via my work incentive scheme so I have no problem with it being exclusive.

Thanks

So your wife will by disappointed this can't touch quality of s6 camera. Camera g plus it's only OK. Lack of ois and poor software processing.
Camera 12 mega pixel, f 1.7
RAM - 3 GB
I was away on holiday when this offer appeared and immediately bought one yesterday on my return. After peeling off the screen sticker I went to insert my 2 sims. To my horror the CPW G5 Plus is single sim only! So like before with the g4, the single sim versions have been price reduced in comparison to the dual sim.

So CPW/CURRY/PC World are not the cheapest place for a G5 Plus Single sim... They actually are the only place you can buy one from!

If you want a Dual Sim G5 Plus, the only place in the UK is Motorola Directly.
NO COMPASS.
