When Google sold Motorola to Lenovo they started slowing down on security patches and updates, which is a real shame as they really had something great with the G1 and G2. They constantly promise updates but fail to deliver or are significantly late.

This is one of their newest models and it has no Android 8 support. I'd go as far to say that Motorola are going to start losing ground in the low end market until they can get their software updates in order.

The Honour 9 lite has Android 8.0, similar specs and is cheaper, i'd get that over this. hotukdeals.com/dea…113

Good deal if you are after a G5S plus though!

Would anyone recommend this over the Honor 7x? Both are a similar price at the minute.

I'd go 7X for the screen. Everything else is similar.
Great deal but bear in mind the G6 release date should appear shortly and won't cost that much more. G5 then likely to come down also - perhaps hang in there a little longer.
If I was paying this £, I'd expect 4GB ram. Actually, for this £, something like a used One Plus 3 has 6GB ram and would smash this.
Bought a G4 over this about 12 months ago, paid £125 for it far better value imo.

If NFC is important to you ... double check that the H7 has it. They tend not to have it, don't know why ...

G5S Plus is DUAL SIM on Amazon DE and Amazon Italy - as already posted by EulicMcGee price is currently €209 plus €5-6 shipping.
Think this is a really decent deal especially from an easy to access UK based retailer. I would jump on this but my heart's been snatched by the Nokia 6 (2018) and I'll be snatching that up when it releases in April.

For anyone after a Motorola and doesn't want to wait for the inevitably more pricey G6 line coming soon go for it. Heat added OP

You won't see much difference at all in daily use between 3 and 4gb ram. Not to sound like a neckbeard but 3gb of ram is a hell of a lot of memory in a handheld device. I remember buzzing over having 2gb in my pc for the first time back in the day, and the games it would run.

Anyone looking for a new mid range budget phone for general use will be plenty happy with this. As for buying used, I'd be far more concerned over the performance of a second hand battery over a ton more ram I don't need.

For a lot of users I agree Joonyer. As a Fantasy Premier League player, I have lots of Chrome tabs open and therefore need the RAM. Take your point about 6GB RAM being overkill. On the other hand, something like the OP3 is a flagship and will have lots of other advantages over a budget or mid range device.

Honor/Huawei have for quite a while had a similar reputation for updates already as Motorola are (justifiably) getting now.

Nokia/HMD seem to be the one to watch with regular updates although my wife's Nokia 5 has been a bit buggy, including new bugs with Oreo (camera issues and unable to upload pictures on Chrome). Hopefully they'll settle down as the company gets a bit more experience behind it.
£174.99 delivered .... for peace of mind use credit card via PayPal but to be honest I've had 3 orders this year with no problems
