Seems a touch expensive for a 720p screen and SD430 processor.

Good battery though.

This phone or the Honor 9 Lite?

I'd go for the Honor 9 Lite. The processor is faster, and the screen is 1080p rather than 720p on the G6 Play. Battery life will be better on the G6 Play though.
The G6 has fast charge and is splash proof.

I'm not sure which has the best camera, the G6 may be like the G5 poor, however the Honor 9 has quite a poor camera.

I have a LG G4 at the moment and the camera is great, I want something comparable.
Such an overpriced option. SD 430 is a bargain bucket processor, do not understand the appeal of these phones now Lenovo has wrecked them.

For 170 you can get a refurbed iPhone 6S, two iphone SEs, or a OnePlus 3T.

Or better still, a brand new Xiaomi A1 with about 50 quid left to spend. This is a good deal for the phone, just not a good phone.

I'm finding it hard to part with my LG g4 too! The camera is superb! Fancy a change and that's the only reason I'm looking. Currently shortlisted to Nokia 7+, honor p20 lite and honor view 10.
Whats peoples feelings between the Moto G6 when released or Huawei P Smart as i just dont know

The amount of versions Motorola put out... I member watching the launch event for the original Moto G and thinking I must have that! It was a game changer.

Have they finally put a Type C socket on the G6?

Yep, the G6 and the G6 Plus have USB-C ports. This G6 Play doesn't though.

Moto G6 will have pretty much Stock Android - clean interface which I personally want - looks pretty nice as well but processor a bit slower although some reviews of G6 Play say most people won't notice unless you play heavy games

Huawei has their awful skin which takes up storage but its a nicer phone & huawei battery management is really good

Its a tough one!

I think there will be deals with the Moto series as several models and will be stocked everywhere

The original Moto G was great - I had a Nexus 4 at the time but it got hot & the battery wasnt great

Moto G was my main phone back then!

Reckon it's going to be hard to get one with a comparable camera to the LG G4 without spending a silly amount of money.

Its going to be replacement for a faulty G5 but ive heard the Huawei battery only lasts 1 day at the most reading reviews when i norm get 2 days oyt of the G5 or i did for last year but now it seems to die over night sometimes from 100% in about 2 hours and ive deleted loads off it but still does it lol
No matter what phone u buy batteries don't last long. I get 5 hours maximum ost but that varies and if I don't charge my phone before going to bed I'm sleeping in 3 hours only

I thought it was just me being ‘thick’.
The Moto X4 is £99 and the Moto G6 Plus is £169, plus any cashback, from CPW - on the sim only+phone deal if anyone can be bothered.

Agreed. SD430 should have no business being used in phones that are priced at above £100, nevermind above £150 in 2018. And phone at £100+ should at least SD625 now as minimum.

And that's why you need more than 3 hours sleep!
Where is the deal? Isn't this the standard launch price?
I've got Moto g3, after 1 year it's slow as commodore64. Factory reset and other tricks does not work. I don't know if I'll buy Motorola again.

Same experience here, never thought a smartphone would take me back to the days of Orange San Francisco again. I'm sure they've put off a lot of people with that.

The P Smart isn't even as good as its Honor 9 Lite stablemate.
Not a great deal compared to the CPW ones
downside to nearly all the new Huawei phones don't have fast charge and take nearly 2.5hrs to charge

How can they call a 720p screen "HD+"? It's like we've gone back in time a decade

The plus is there to indicate it's a 18:9 ratio, not that it's got any higher DPI.

The "HD" bit indicating the resolution (of 720p), and the "+" indicating it's an 18:9 screen.

"Full HD+" is commonly used to describe phones with 1080p screens that are 18:9.

But yhh totally agree that they shouldn't be charging this much your a phone with a 720p screen in 2018.
Wouldn't touch a Moto phone again after the complete shambles that was the g5. Replaced it with a Mi A1 and it's a thousand times better and looks better than this one as well...
What would you lot recommend as a mid range phone, currently on an LG Nexus, I love the stock android, but the phone has been getting seriously laggy in the past few months (updates!), I have given up buying expensive phones or on contract (I pay sim only).

I want usb c, finger print, android pay, decent camera, not overly large
