Cold not a moto g... Oh wait..

can you unlock these??

Depends on the IMEI. Some of them are harder than others. I was lucky and got one unlocked for less than £2.00 on eBay but there was a list of IMEI numbers on the sale that they could not unlock.

Nice, £5 lower than the last time it was posted: NEW, sealed Moto G 4G including £10 O2 top-up = £124.99 by lwcmobile @ eBay

Very possibly not, if it has the following IMEIs - from this eBay £1.69 unlock code sale:

I love my Moto G and it has always updated to latest Android quickly. However I don't think I have seen it listed to be upgraded to Android L (when that comes) yet.

Just root it with a Custom rom then

The successor to this is expected to be announced on the 4th BTW.

That's the 8GB 3G model, this is the 4G model with SD card expansion.

That will be the Moto G2 not the G 4G - no LTE/4G

Since the Moto G 4G is the updated version of the Moto G, do you really think they'll take a step backward with the G2 by not including 4G with it :)?

I may consider it if Motorola don't upgrade - waiting to see.

(same with my 2012 Nexus 7)

Ordered one of these thanks.

Specs are on par with an iPhone and if it runs stock Android it will be as smooth as butter. Its a great deal for a ball park £100 4G phone

Sod it. Bought one. Will post whether the IMEI is in the bad range when I receive it. I was looking to move to GiffGaff anyway. (Shares O2 network and mentioned in the sellers post as compatible too).

I bought this phone , from this seller 2 weeks ago(paid £5 more).I unlocked it via cheap code from eBay with no issues

Just a minor point - it has the latest Andoid (Kitkat) but it is not pure stock Andoid - it also has Motorola stuff on it. The differences are small however.

What do you mean it does not include a charger but comes with a micro usb charger?

Well 4G/LTE is not mentioned in any of the rumours just a bigger screen and an 8MP camera.

I'm willing to bet one of my kidneys (good condition, only light use) that it'll have 4G. They'd be mad not to (especially with the rumoured price).

I am seriously tempted by this phone. After owning an iphone for years I cannot justify spending £600 on the new one when its ut in a couple of weeks when this one costs 1/6th and does all I need.

Why not save yourself another £100 and stick with the iPhone?

How does this compare to a Samsung Galaxy 3? I have the 3G 16GB version running latest Slimkat, it's a great phone still but wouldn't mind 4G

That's not true though, the camera clearly isn't as good.
In terms of cost to performance ratio, yes, it's much better value.

Plan was to sell my current iphone 5 to put towards the new one. You make a good point but I want a shiny new phone

I have a Moto G, my wife an S3. In simple terms you get 4G with the Moto G 4G which you don't on a S3 and the Moto G is a much more stripped down version of Android without all the Samsung bloatware which you may like or not and I don't think the S3 will get much more in the way of update versions, where the Moto G probably will have a few more. Battery life on Moto G is MUCH better, but not a replaceable battery like the S3.

However the camera on the S3 is WAY better, not just in pixels, but in accommodating lower light pictures. As with many things, it depends on your priorities.

Having got one of these to replace my 1020 that keeps locking up or restarting itself, my 3 word review is as follows.

Camera
Everything else

Well I'm on a Nexus 4 and my partner has a Moto G. The battery life is FAR superior, lasts ages yet he uses it all the time! So I'm tempted by the 4G version.. Shall I or shan't I!?

My Nexus 4 failed the week before my European tour so got the original Moto G as a stopgap. In fact I found the MotoG as good as the Nexus apart from:

1) screen size. Its OK when using it but my oh still has a Nexus and you notice it when you switch back
2) not quite stock kitkat - mine (Tesco) was missing sip VoIP. Using Sipdroid instead
3) camera. Its OK but I would like better.

So stick with the N4 while it works. But its a bargain if it stops. IMHO much better value than the N5 especially if it fails after just 18 months.
