Comparison with Moto G 4G:

gsmarena.com/com…986

Main differences:

Moto G 4G: Sharper screen, Better front facing camera, Camera flash, Gyro, £25 more expensive (currently £115 at Tesco)

Moto E 4G: Bigger battery, 64bit chipset, cheaper

The 64-bit chipset is a bit pointless in the new Moto E, as Motorola have used the 32-bit version of android for the OS.

Still the chipset is very slightly faster than the SD400 in the Moto g, especially as the gpu is pushing less pixels on the qHD screen.

I think the Moto e would be better in the £60-£80 range. Hopefully the price will decrease a bit more in a few weeks.

That's not the only deal on the 4g moto g, there's been a few recently.

OK, expired now, but there is likely more deals to come with the new G coming out. I think accusing the poster of trolling was a bit harsh to be fair.

Wouldn't spend £90 on the MotoE

Thanks OP, managed to get it without the top up.

After reading the reviews it seems its ahead of the 1st gen moto g, which was pretty damned good phone, so for 80 quid looks a decent buy TBH.

Wow, what a cracking little fone. Daughter had 1st gen motorola G, she broke it so we replaced it with this. The Moto G was good but this performs even better.

£99 sim free from CPW .

£99 sim free from CPW .

Sim-free CPW upgrade £69.99

This is a good deal as most people can't get the CPW PAYG upgrade deal due to not having an eligible PAYG SIM. Especially if you already have dealings with Virgin Media and can get it without the £10 top up bringing the price down to £79.99.

If people are willing to be a bit adventurous I'd highly recommend the Elephone P6000 instead of the new Moto E (at least at its current price), which sells for ~£95 from Gearbest and other similar sellers.

5" 720p screen, quad core 64 bit CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, dual SIM, expandable memory, full UK 4G support, 8MP camera, removable battery, android 4.4 with 5.0 to follow soon.

I bought mine off coolicool and chose the option for returns to Spain instead of HK. I honestly can't fault it, and the battery lasts surprisingly long.

Aye :)? uk.trustpilot.com/rev…com

There's plenty of other options like I said; Coolicool were very quick and painless to use, there's also Aliexpress, Geekbuying, dealsmachine, banggood..

Does anyone knows if it's easy and cheap to get the unlock code for these phones?

99p Here

Same price as a 4G mifi. A good use for my unused The One plan. Goodbye Sky line rental and broadband.

thanks DealHunter, an interesting comparison might be to the S4 mini!

gsmarena.com/com…375
three.co.uk/Dis…ini

hmm might have to send this S4 mini I got today (£135 / £45 more) back!

pros of S4mini: smaller+lighter, 1.5GB RAM, OLED screen, better cameras, flash, NFC, IR, Gyro.. many of which most people may not care about. feels more premium. comes unlocked. removable battery.
pros of MotoE2015: cheaper, maybe faster, probably better battery life, comes with Android 5, swappable edge colour bits
both have qHD screen, MicroSD, 4G
neither has: enough internal storage. 8GB, maybe 5GB available. i know the S4 can use some hacks (FolderMount) to get apps on SD, MotoE probably same.

not a massive amount in it? if this had a better camera, it'd be an easy choice imho.. but it doesn't, it's probably the same as the old MotoE (?) i.e. even worse than the old MotoG camera, which everyone hated.

so it may come down to whether you want to pay £45 more for a better camera.

(btw, the new G i'd put in a different class as it's 5" screen)

I have virgin media broadband, how could I buy this minus the £10 topup?

Do you have a Virgin SIM only deal or contract? That would probably help, if not then a Virgin PAYG SIM. Tell them you don't need or want the top up that comes with the phone. Maybe just being a Virgin Media customer will help. You will need to call to buy the phone rather than buying online.

Thank you

not a bad deal but a 4g phone on virgin is a bit of a waste as they wont be offering 4g for a while yet, possibly a year or more

Decent enough deal but I'd be more tempted with the 4G Moto G which you may be able to get for similar price here hotukdeals.com/dea…876

I would splash out for the moto G 4g (gen 1) too. I have one and I love it. 326 ppi to 245 ppi for the sake of £10 to £15 pounds doesnt seem worth it to me.

edit: I got mine for £105 from tescos but they seem to be more now (£115). :-/
