Motorola Moto G 2nd Generation 4G 5" Display + £20 Giftcard - £139.00 @ Tesco Mobile

Posted before but now comes with a £20 giftcard. If you can use the card, it matches the Virgin deal, and as I'm on Tesco Mobile, seemed easier.

This has the giftcard terms and conditions:

That's probably a better deal, but my son wanted the microSD slot.

I see samnai's deal has a microSD slot, I probably would have gone for that if I'd seen it.

an advice.. just don't get this crap! Its doing my heading! worked fine when was new. a month later all the lagging started. If my screen was not broken I would have happily sold it by now.

Let me clarify that I got the first generation version, which may notvspply to this version

op heat added. good price with the gift card.

however when 6 of my friends complained of it lagging soon after they got it. i opted for the 4g 4.5inch instead.

has a micro sd slot too.

great phone.

I've had 3 moto g's and now I have a z3 compact. I should have learned the first time!

That you don't like stock Android?

No, stock android is fine but they are not reliable. They all died on me.

Can easily get an unlock code from eBay for £1.69 I think. Did so for wife's phone.

I looked at this to replace my first gen moto g which broke but has pretty much identical spec other than bigger screen, 4g and msd slot.

Bought a Jiayu S3 advance instead from amazon, £40 more though (although same price as this from gearbest and others), fantastic phone. 3000 mah battery, gorgeous 1080p 5.5" screen, 8 core CPU - not far off galaxy S5 territory, dual speakers, NFC, 3gb ram and 16gb storage + mSD slot. Soon to have 5.1 upgrade too.

Why not send it back if it was faulty after 1 month?

how does this compare with the S3?

I use Swype on my 1st gen 4G, and it works pretty well. It even corrects phrases and suggests emoticons ;-)

You'll only get the £20 gift card if you top up your PAYG sim, just read the FAQ Tesco FAQ

Will I still receive my free £20 Tesco gift card if I don't top up my new Tesco Mobile Motorola Moto G phone on Pay As You Go within the promotional period?

No, your Tesco gift card will not be issued if you don’t top up your Pay As You Go phone between the 21st May and 21st June 2015.

£10 appears to be the minimum top-up you can do.

There are 2 Moto G 1st gens in our house, they have been used heavily every day for 14 months, no issues at all. Nothing wrong with the quality, its more like people abusing them then blaming the phone. They also have Swype on them so the person with predictive text "problems" must simply be a noob.

I got one in the Virgin deal and also being driven mad by lag issues the last few weeks. Considering getting rid.

There might be app issue or too many apps on it

my moto 2nd gen was all good until I upgraded to the lollipop...
-battery drain unexpectedly in occasions
-lags
-g maps can be unusable at time due to lags

Yea my girlfriend had the same problem with the older Moto G. After a while it kept lagging & freezing.

My friend just got this and I'm amazed at how well it stands up to my iPhone 6 at a fraction of the price. The average consumer wouldn't even notice any performance difference between the two. Obviously you are paying for the OS with apple but if you are stuck on iOS like I am then definitely buy this and save a lot of money.

Sorry I meant to say "if you are'nt stuck on iOS like I am"

I don't think 'too many apps' should be a problem in this day and age. I have lots of space on the internal memory and the external SD card. Like another poster said, google maps can be unusable.

I'm quite happy to pay £85 for this knowing they've reduce the costs this way. I'll use a proper camera yo take photos if they need to be decent....like in the olden days when carrying a camera was not a chore like it it seems to be today!

Selling 'em off before the 3rd generation Moto G arrives.

Yeah next year

For those with laggy phones.

Have you tried an internal cache clearance, especially after an OS upgrade (i.e lollipop) works great for many and made my phone run like new. 1st gen, lollipop.

there are loads of guide, but just to pluck on from random:
