All credit for this is due to aramaj36 who posted it as a £109.99 deal last week. It was quickly expired as the actual price when you clicked through to the online checkout was £119.99, and Virgin Media shops would not honour the advertised price.

More information on the original thread here.

Virgin have only got around to fixing the error on their website today. It now shows the price as "£119.99 Includes a £10 top up. Free delivery."

This is still a smoking hot deal - this model was only released in the last few weeks and is typically £149.99 elsewhere (including amazon.co.uk).

Exactly which Moto G model is this?

It's the 5" 4G model.

There are basically four official UK models:
- 4.5" (1st generation) 3G - 8GB & 16GB options - no microSD slot - single SIM
- 4.5" (1st generation) 4G - 8GB - one microSD slot - single SIM (£85 here)
- 5" (2nd generation) 3G - 8GB - one micro SD slot - dual SIM
- 5" (2nd generation) 4G - 8GB - one micro SD slot - single SIM

The 5" 4G model is the only one of these to come with Lollipop out-of-the-box (but official Lollipop upgrades are already available for all the earlier models. CORRECTION: available now for 4.5" 3G & 5" 3G; coming soon for 4.5" 4G - see reply #125.).

(There is a 5" 4G dual SIM model, but it's not currently a UK or European model.)

As well as the bigger display, the 5" 2nd generation models have better cameras (8MP vs 5MP), speakers, and other improvements.

Is it definitely 4G?

The Virgin Media website states neither 3G nor 4G (it's been suggested that this might be because Virgin don't offer a 4G service to the general public), however it does state the following:
- Operating system : Android : Installed OS version : 5.0.2 - which is correct only for the 5" 4G model (the 5" 3G model comes with Kitkat, not Lollipop)
- Battery : Capacity : 2390 mAh - which is correct only for the 5" 4G model (the 5" 3G model has a 2070 mAh battery)

If this were the 3G model, it would be dual SIM. The Virgin website does not mention dual SIM.

Also, Virgin have confirmed that this is the 4G model both in online chat on their website, and in person in-store.

Numerous confirmations can also be found in this thread and in the original thread from HUKDers who have already recieved their orders.

Is this unlocked?

Apparently yes - confirmations:
- T-Mobile
- Giffgaff
- Lycamobile
- Three & Giffgaff
- and AFAIK zero reports to the contrary

(In the unlikely event that you do need to get one unlocked, see reply #27)

Is this branded or loaded with bloatware?

Apparently not

Can I get this for £109.99?

Apparently yes - provided you're an existing Virgin Mobile customer with a current SIM Only monthly rolling contract (but you'll have to do a telephone, not an online, order. UPDATE: or in-store - see reply #135.)

And your point is Mr pedantic? Do you really have such a sad life that you get a kick out of pointing out the minor grammatical errors of others..................

Wow, Virgin Pay As You Go's pricing is disgusting:

Data£1 per day for 100MB within the UK on days that you access the … Data£1 per day for 100MB within the UK on days that you access the internet from your phone. Any use above 100MB will be charged at £1 per 100MB thereafter.

£30/month for a few 100KB per day syncing your mail....

I'd have a hard time thinking up a worse tariff pricing scheme for your typical smart phone user.

Thanks! Fixed!

Managed to get this phone on Friday for £99.99. I am an existing customer on a Pay monthly sim only and asked if they would be able to do the phone without the credit which the guy i was speaking to said that he couldn't so i asked for a supervisor. He came back and told me that the supervisor had agreed to 2x Sim cards with £10 credit to be sent with the phone, when i received the phone an sims all i had to do was phone them up and transfer the credit from the sime cards to my original account.

Bit of work required but its minimal effort to get the phone at £99.99

I think you'll have to do a telephone order. (I've amended the deal details to clarify this.)

I suspect £109.99 might be the absolute best price now that they fixed the advertised price error this afternoon.

Do you think they could do it instore ?I dont like to buy things through the phone plus I tried 30 m ago on 789 and was informed of up to 30 m waiting time.Virgin doesnt make life easy for existing customers!

What?
Pointing out the difference between FALSE and TRUE is not pedantic.

If you follow the OP's link, and read the thread, you'll find the general consensus is that the phone is UNlocked.

Is anyone else having problems trying to order? I just keep getting "oops something went wrong, try again in a few minutes" when I put my card details in.

Is this defiantly 4G? I see nothing in the specs on the VM site nor on GSM arena specs for it.

No idea, sorry - hopefully someone else can confirm. Or try calling your local store? Or PM the relevant posters on the old thread? Let us know how it goes...

hot skoda g best fone ever sold

In regards to branding, usually VM phones I've found aren't branded. I bought a Lumia 620 from them and it arrived unbranded, same as a friend who ordered a Samsung

So I can pick this up and just pop in my old sim card?

Very good deal. Paid £149.99 six months @ Argos.
Can not find a white version on the same price.

Gorgeous phone just picked one up on release day 3 weeks ago for £149.99. At this lower price it's a great deal.

I also picked up this case: -
ebay.co.uk/itm…AIT
And a 32 Gb microSD card to go with it (from amazon).

That's what others who've bought and received one are finding. So far, nobody has reported otherwise.

Like a lot of folks, I bought the original Moto G when it came out at the end of 2013. I got mine on upgrade for about £109 from Phones4U. I still have it and it works fine albeit the battery life isn't what it used to be. The thing is, when it came out it was a 'stand out' phone. There was nothing that could touch it at its price point. Now, 18 months later, I'm not sure that's the case for this latest version of the Moto G. Today I had a look at the Huawei G620 at CPW for just £69.99 on upgrade. 5" 720p, tick. 4G, tick. Decent CPU, GPU & camera, tick, tick, tick. Lollipop, no but I have it on my old Moto G and TBH, it's so so at best. All I'm saying is that the latest Moto G isn't the compelling deal it once was. Of course, if it was sub-£100, then maybe...

Correct! Apologies for that. I missed that completely. I thought the 2nd Gen only was 4G and didn't look carefully enough. Sorry for the mistake.

Quality handset and best price in the UK full stop ;-)

Worth every bean at £120 let alone fussing over a £10 top up!

Paid £208 for mine [dual sim imported] when did a hukd
heads up for it, battery is truly amazing, screen is a bit
wonky|stretched with some things [remember its not full
hd res!] and games, call clarity and signal is exceptional.

Did not leave messing about with it for long
[uniquegeek and all that jazz!] and also had
a few try's at rooty tooting it.. worked but would not advise
it if you do not have 1: the time 2: lots of time 3: peace

Swapped it for some items that were valued at same as
what we paid for it, so *very* tempted to get another now
the price has dropped so dramatically, the main thing with
this model is the bootloader unlock and going through all
the hassle with getting MR to bind your # to the account
and then do it..

Did not have it long enough, but really wanted to run it
up against the 640DSxl lumia for some geek fun.

I'm using one of these now, testing as a replacement to the Moto 4G (1st gen) which is now selling out.

The position of the SIM card and microSD card slots have moved slightly, but no real issue there. The battery is now no longer visible. It was never intended for user-replacement in earlier versions of the Moto G, but was atleast visible - now completely obscured behind a blanking plate and lots of small screws all around the edge.

Yes it is 4G - mine was not from this specific deal, but was not locked to any network out of the box.

To be honest there isn't much difference to the 4G (1st gen). Is it worth spending another ~£130 if you already had a 4G? probably not. If you have ~£130 and were already looking at a Moto G, then go for this one. Great handset for the price, but nothing revolutionary from the previous Moto G variants.

I ordered this for £109.99 successfully over the phone this afternoon

Also the 4G version looses the 2 SIM capabilities if that's important to you.

Is lollipop good in moto g? I had to downgrade my s5, and now got a message to upgrade in my moto g

Heat! ...and a refreshing to see credit to the original deal! very classy OP!

Argh! Why did I buy it for £125?

Moto G is on 5.0.2, I'd suggest a factory reset after update though.

Straight fire

I have the 2013 Moto G 16GB which has been great - been in the official flip cover from day one and looks as good as new.

Do you think it is worth upgrading to this - the only weakness for me on the original is the camera and I hear this is better? How much should I expect to get for my original phone?

Cheers
