Order now at Motorola website for delivery on 23rd March or available in stores from next Monday (16th March).

Be careful: The UK version has only one SIM slot NOT dual sim. Motorola website has mistakenly marked it as dual sim now has updated. P.S. I will have to return my order then. ;-(

Yes.

Well my nexus 4 broke today and suddenly a 4g moto g second gen appears perfect timing

Any reviews of this out there? Decent camera now?

OP, perhaps you want to add dual-SIM to the title. Great price, shame it's got only 8gb built in storage.

Camera still pants basically unfortunately.

Surely one of the aforementioned retailers will have a real deal on launch, no?

Does the 4G one have the 410 or 400 SoC?

Engadget suggests it is a "big, big improvement" - engadget.com/201…14/

Snapdragon 400 according to Gsmarena

why no 2gb ram

Nice, will wait for other retailers to get stock.

RedDemonic

Price would be my guess or saving something for the 3rd gen ;),. I keep meaning to update my 15 month old 1st gen moto G but it still does everything i need no problem.maybe this will tempt me when it comes down in price in a month or two as dual sims would be useful.

btw my moto g 1st gen received lollipop update today

Vote for Hot!
Nearly out to Tesco for Moto G 2nd gen for £13× today, really happy to see your post thx!

This or Samsung Mini S4?

Only differences between the 3g and 4g seem to be
Weight
3G:149 grams (5.26 ounces)
4G: 155 grams (5.47 ounces)
and
Battery
3G:2070 mAh
4G: 2390 mAh

Well it is an update not a new generation, also for price increase of about 10£ 4g and 15% extra battery is worth it.

I simply think they are confusing customers with these late releases, this phone should have been the original second generation...

I also dislike that the price is constantly rising while specs not so much. I mean this is now very close to 200£ and this is a very different category than 120£ that the first g cost on release.

I know that Google selling Motorola to lenovo won't be good for us...
Luckily this phone can usually be picked up cheaper than Motorola sells it on its site.

I've got a 1st gen, but my husband is looking to upgrade his OLD Nokia, anyone know if there is any software you can use to type text messages on the PC via data cable?? he is very attached to this facility on his N8

A few options for him. Note that Motorola Connect, mentioned in the comments of the linked article, does not officially work with the Moto G, although someone on xda has ported it with mixed results.

If he ends up using Whatsapp, there isn't a way to use that from the keyboard unless he roots his phone and installs AirMirror, part of the Airdroid remote control app. AirDroid can be used by setting up the phone as a wireless hotspot, or even with a USB tether, if there is otherwise no wireless network available.

It is nice to see you caring for your husband's tech needs! I am jealous.

If he ends up with this or an Android phone then he could try and app like MightyText Install the app on your phone, bookmark the relevant page in your browser (there is a Chrome add-on that works well too) and away you go. No cables, and you can also set it to display phone notifications on the PC too. Its good.

saving for posterity

This - every time. The S4 Mini - with its overheating and accelerated battery draining - has put me off Samsung gear forever!

ha, i thought it was just me with the overheating issue! glad i got rid.

this will be available in Argos from Monday, they already have it in their catelogue.

Motorola really needs to get its act together with regards to naming. Identifying which "G" model is which is really cumbersome.

You could get a Bluetooth keyboard and pair it up to the phone directly. No need for a PC then either.

Would this be much of an upgrade over an iPhone 4S?

Thanks for posting this I was going to buy the non 4g version as I like the bigger screen and better camera. Wasn't really looking forward on going back to 3g as where I live I get brilliant 4g reception.

looks like the ZTE blade S6 has better specs for the same price...

Pay an extra £50 and get a decent second hand nexus 5 off ebay. I've had the 1st gen moto g (very good phone but poor camera) then upgraded to a nexus 4 (brillant phone shame about the battery life) now i'm using a nexus 5 (awesome all rounder).
Sell your nexus 4 as faulty or spare parts on ebay to help towards the cost of your next phone (whatever that maybe).

For £159.99 would rather spend that sort of money on a LG G2, theres no comparison. I would only consider buying this phone if it went below £120, theres too much choice on the budget phone market nowerdays which is great for us the consumers.

Any 2 year old flagship phone be it LG, Samsung, Sony or google can be bought for a little bit more than this phone and it will be twice as better in terms of spec's wise.
