Couple of points, sorry it's a Moto G deal, this must be the 750th on HUKD but I still think this represents good value for an excellent phone, I dare say the LG G2 is a better phone in most respects, assuming greedy sods haven't bought them all up to flog on ebay but this is still a bit cheaper and should be a £2 (or less) easy and quick unlock.

The 4G/LTE version is only 8gb, but includes a memory card slot.

I prefer 5 inch one

nope 3G dual sim

quidco available on this as well.

I got this phone on tesco contract, really like it. camera isn't amazing but I use a proper camera to take proper pics, this is fine for snaps. otherwise I'm very pleased with it and glad I choose it over the s3 mini for equivalent contract price!

This is an amazing android phone, and for value for money it's hard to beat. I just wanted to add that I have used a couple of 64gb sd cards by Sandisk and Samsung (even though it's supposed to take a maximum of 32gb) and they have worked absolutely fine.

I had this phone for a while! Totally worth it at this price!

have the moto g (older version of this) since march 2014 and yep it's a good phone, fast and ok to use but don't find it as 'user friendly' as my old iPhone 3g, and I'm no apple lover. I'd go for the LG g2 hotukdeals.com/dea…643 goes back up to £320 on monday

I dont want to start a fight but when people state "a proper camera to take proper pics" they should maybe rethink those words with todays tech. I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and here's an example of a snap taken with my phone. Not a proper camera ?? I think it does the job !!

I agree. "Dedicated camera" is more accurate nowadays.

In other news, I'm thirsty...

Thanks op, decided to go for it. I'm leaving three as they are moving me from the one plan ( I know they are doing it to everyone) so this will do my need nicely. Heat added!

Good find, yes it's the same (in white) or in black
for £125 without any top up required. This Tesco price has just gone down as it was more than £129 when I posted the original deal.

I've added/amended the original post to show the £125 price rather than create a new post which someone else might well do anyway.

I see the older 8GB version is £119.

Getting close to going for first smart phone after cracking screen on 4yo Nokia 2730.
Cost £40 and used everyday in construction industry, so tend to be careful and expect stuff to last.
How delicate are these phones?
Would be looking at 4G version.

Android sucks,,,, they get slower after few months,,,, i luv my apple

Nice! Even better deal.

The price of the Tesco moto 4G was (I'm fairly certain) £149 when I posted this EE deal and Tesco promptly put it down to £125

Well if you insist on wandering HotUKdeals forums with it on show for all to see, it's gonna get its picture taken. You might want to see doctor about that rust as well.

Good phone

I am interested in this for my 10 year old son. Not expecting him to use it a lot to start with and want an old fashioned payg which doesn't have to be topped up every month so was looking at a three sim. Would I be better to buy the sim free one at £149 or get it with a sim and then get it unlocked? Any advice appreciated!

Original Poster

most people buy a locked moto g because they're so cheap (£2) and usually simple to unlock, plus the locked phones have no added bloatware or any network branding and so essentially they're the same as an unlocked / sim free which cists more.

a Three 3--2-1 sim is a good choice as it's probably the cheapest charges..
make sure you're in a three coverage

Original Poster

apologies for typos above, £2 refers to the unlock cost and not the phone cost and cist was my moto g phone helpfully auto corrupting 'cost' as I typed.

What's the difference between the +4g version and the 2nd generation version. Is it worth paying a bit more and have the 2nd generation?

The 4G version is based on the original 2013 Moto G (the mark 1) so essentially the same except it has 4G and an SD slot.

The 2014 5" Moto G (mark 2) is dual SIM BUT only 3G capable.

Thank you. Are there many other differences between 2013 & 2014 models except the dual sim?
