It's not the same. This is the 2014 2nd generation version. That one is the old one with 4g

indeed, the white one is the older 4g model with the small screen.

Would do anything for a 4.5" inch version of this phone.

Anyone know how much the battery life is affected by the bigger screen?

About an hour in the review I read.

I'm getting a full day easily and that is with a fair bit of browsing and calls (Android L is supposed to be less battery intensive so hopefully it will be even better when they give us the upgrade).

Nice phone with two things that are not so great. There is a slight problem with distortion with the earpiece when on calls (no distortion problem with music playback however). Had this with 3 of them. Appears to be a software issue according to Motorola and they said that they hope to fix it when they roll out the 'L' update. The other is screen cast being disabled by Motorola.

Not the best screen I have ever seen but not bad considering the price.

Got it couple weeks ago for 140 at More Computers.. check that out instead for the same phone (which is fab btw!)

Why has screencast been disabled? Does this mean i cant cast youtube videos to smart tv?

Anyone know when the 16GB Moto G 2014 5'' Model is going to be available? Its been mentioned in reviews but haven't seen it for sale anywhere. I realise you can fit a micro SD card in this 8GB Model, but is there or isn't there a 16GB Version of this phone? I realise the old Moto G was either 8GB or 16GB too (with no micro SD card expansion), is this where the confusion is in terms of reviews.

You can still cast Chromecast enabled apps like Youtube, Netflix etc but you can't cast the screen (basically see on the tv what you see on your phones screen) which is useful for gamers and the like. Local cast is a great app for casting movies, photos and music from your phone for apps which don't support chromecast. I use it with showbox and mobdro. Works great.

I have had one for just over a week and it's a cracking phone for the money. I like the fact that it has almost no unnecessary apps on it - if I want it, I install it myself. I get about a day and half out of the battery and the battery recharges in an hour or two. The main camera is reasonable (certainly better than the original Moto G). About the only (very minor) criticism I have is that the phone looks almost identical top and bottom, so unless I locate the buttons or camera on the back, I sometimes pick it up upside down!

It is in white on the Motorola website for £149.

Ok I have a couple of questions - apologies if I sound thick:)
1) Is the Phone unlocked to any network??
2) With the dual SIM - can you have different networks on the SIM cards ??

Thanks

The OP one should be but look at the deal yourself if you want to be sure. Re.dual SIM - yes you can, this is the whole point of them.

Why not get the 4G version? It is virtually the same (except for the stereo speaker), but with 4G and the smaller screen.

Hahaha .. kinda wondered a wee bit about that myself to be honest with you ..... lol.

Yes.

Why don't you leave your Name, & Your Number,& we'll get back to you ..... lol. :-)

Down to £139.95 now....cracking deal for a superb phone......I still prefer the 1st gen because of the pinpoint screen...but this too has its plus points - camera / dual sim etc

Still undecided whether to get this or not. Have been ebaying the moto x and ends up going for about £180.
Anyone got one that could tell me whether screen is any good. Thank you

Battery life for me is not as good as the previous Moto g. hardly get a day out of a charge. But still great value

Cold, no 4G. Not an iphone

Use Flubit to get it down even further (got ~£130 quote)

Same here, £130.26 I think.

I need one by late November and I doubt it's going to drop much in price by then, so think I'll take the plunge at that.

not true. camera is vastly improved for a start. 2014 model also has an sd card slot.

There are two threads on this !! So much demand for the phone !
