It's a dual sim phone , will appeal to many .

Clever. The Moto G 4G is the 1st Gen version. This is the 2nd Gen version, a completely different phone with many improvements over the 1st Gen, especially in the camera department.

Anyone experiencing issues with the audio, a few times now I couldn't hear anybody so I had to restart the phone to get it working again.
Apart from that issue couldn't be happier its Moto/Google so will always have latest firmware, Qualcomm chipset a big plus not cheap MediaTek or even worse Intel Atom. HSDPA speeds are fast enough for me, don't need 4G speeds who does? unless your on a uncapped data plan .

I've seen it in action and it would appeal to me. 8GB though... SMH.

Motorola got sold to Lenovo quite a while back now

One of the best reviews phones on the market atm compared to be better than a HTC One and the Samsung S5 unfortunately no 4g on this model but everything else its what you would expect from a £500 alternative

Just checked yep deal was finalised 3 months ago.

This must be the last product pushed by Moto/Google, don't know what the future support would be then, I hope they don't stick atoms in future products like Lenovo

have both moto g 1 and 2. audio issues also with 2 , but battery issues with 1. both good handsets in the main. for the price you can't go wrong. you can pick up s 2nd hand moto g for nowt on Gumtree and the like. as much as I'd love to spend 500£ in a ego phone, I doubt I'd notice much difference from this 2nd gen. battery is good, its quick and a nice interface. I've spent more and had major issues.

What a daft comment, you clearly have no idea.

I have a funny issue with second gen. Can't put it to my ear for calls when charging otherwise seem to get a slight charge to my ear as well!

ordered via amazon thanks

Obviously the marketing is working on you, as far as I know there currently isnt a fully integrated 4G network in the UK, when you make a call you will be pushed to 3G.
Basically if you have a 4G/LTE phone you are beta testing for the operators and paying them for the privilege.

well, i get 4G from 3 on a sim only at £12.99 and speeds of 32mb at my home address, whereas I am lucky to get 2mb speed with Sky or BT at home, so I know chromcast netflix using my unlimited uncapped data on my phone which is now the Moto X as I gave my son the moto g 4G. Go ahead pay for a duel sim 3 G phone enjoy that out of date phone of yours.

Well it seems 4G is a must for you then, data is only a secondary requirement for me I use my phone mostly for calls with data in the background.
Just for your information 32Mbps is achievable in 3G, latest specification for HSDPA is over 300Mbps.
I wouldn't say 3G is out of date, but I would say GSM is reaching its end of life, as its frequency is being re farmed for LTE.

You obviously know your stuff which is handy. I have tried both 3g and 4g and the main reason I prefer 4g is because I use my phone a lot to watch netflix, now TV as I am often away from home and also to do essential emailing. thanks for your input, it is appreciated and its when members like you take the time to put useful information down makes this site more the worthwhile. thanks.

Not sure making unlocking a 2 stage process if you have a pin/pattern unlock is a step forward! Seemed a bit slower initially but could just be getting up to speed and it does seem a bit better already. Looking forward to the apparent improvement in battery life!

I like the new design, makes it feel like a new phone. Not seen any battery life improvement though, worse if anything. Perhaps just a one off but my phone was fully charged about 9pm lat night and now has 20% left at 8am. All open apps closed before going to bed so who know what that was all about.

Lollipop Lollipop I love Lollipop!
I'd recommend a fresh install to all, couldn't force Gmail notifications with just placing update over Kit Kat, also if you are backing up then use a reliable app, backed my wife's phone yesterday with an app and lost 652 photos!!! She's gonna kill me when she finds out! oO

I think I'll try a factory reset on mine. I'm getting no more than 12 hours on each charge at the moment plus seems to take a lot longer to charge than before too.

I *think* battery life has improved with 5.0.2. I'm at 87% now having charged up last night and have just checked emails a couple of time (wifi switched off mainly, bluetooth/gps switched off all the time). I think it used to discharge quicker than my old 16GB 1st gen in standby whereas it looks like maybe it is more on a par now. I don't like having to swipe now before I can enter my password pattern, although I do like you can access wifi settings etc. before logging in. Don't know if Iike the stylistic changes especially (nor hate them either), but it does give the phone a different look - you know you've been updated!

I've factory reset so just charging up now and will see how it is after. I know wat you mean about the extra stage when unlocking, I'm getting used to it though. I've always found it a little annoying that you have to hit enter after entering the pin anyway, seems much quicker on an iphone although I suppose on that you do have to swipe first to get to the unlock screen.

One additional handy feature is you can now turn auto rotate on/off and access the torch function from the swipe down menu at the top. Much quicker than before (I don't think it had a built in torch function actually you had to download a free app). I know you can customise things like this by installing a different launcher but I've tried to keep things as standard as possible so the phone stays zippy.

Nova launcher is a good one, nice and clean, I noticed Go Launcher was eating a lot of data so binned it.

Thanks.

Factory reset mine now the battery is back to normal, 65% left and the last charge was about 15 hours ago (admittedly some of that time I was asleep). The new design makes it feel like a new phone.

New design does mean new things to get to grips with - I had a small star appear in my status bar the other night, that's now gone again - no idea what was for and nothing showed up in my notifications! Not 'sleeping' as that is still a moon crescent...

I have the same star, it only appears when in the do not disturb sleeping mode. No idea what it means. One thing that has changed is before that setting would mute everything apart from an alarm. Now it mutes everything the same with the exception of the phone sounds like the unlock and lock noise.
