It's a great phone, feels and works better than pretty much all it's peers. To get better you're looking at £200 upwards really.

Edit* this is probably the next step up:

Hmmmm can't decide.....

this one includes the power adapter and Usb cable too

get the 16Gb one

are these good phones? was thinking of getting one

They aren't the best on the market but they are far from a bad device, however price to performance they are amazing. As someone else mentioned to beat these in performance you are really looking at £200 minimum which is double the price and even then you're probably looking at something like the galaxy S3 which is 2 years old and samsung will almost certainly drop support for it soon while motorola will likely support this for a while yet (and support them well given it was the first non nexus phone to get the upgrade to kit kat here beating other devices worth 4 times as much by a couple of months). If you want a cheap phone these ar ethe best ones, the next step up would be about £250 for a nexus 5 or one plus one when it launches in June

The best on the market at this price.

I think that I read yesterday that Samsung have announced that there won't be kitkat for the S3 (the non LTE version anyway).

Are there any high street shops that have this phone on display to have a look at?

Argos, O2, Vodafone have it .CPW didn't have it when I looked .

Good phone, Nothing better at this price point at the moment.. Very cheap and easy to unlock if you don't get a sim free one.
I think I paid about £2 for a code via ebay.

Both

Hoping local asda in spondon has one of these in stock

It says it's CDMA, will that cause any problems if I've already got a sim ready for it? I can just slot it in right? Similar to how the Nexus 4 worked?

While it says it's CDMA I'm fairly sure its not. If it is then its been disabled and no, there's no issues with using a sim.

I picked one up last week, there was a bit of an issue regarding getting it for £110.00 as it scanned at that price but would not go through the till at that price ? Any way i was given the option of EE OR Vodaphone, so im not sure whether they are unlocked or not, hope this helps someone.

Oh btw it is fantastic for the price.

It depends. If you don't need a lot of storage (the 8GB version will leave about 4GB useable I think), aren't put off by the looks and it's not too big then this is good. Otherwise the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is about the same price and has expandable storage, is more compact, better styled (this is personal taste though), available in four different colours, probably a better camera (even though both 5MP) and high quality aptX Bluetooth streaming (a bit of a niche feature).

The Moto G obviously is faster, has a higher resolution screen and also offers an update to the most recent version of Android (4.4 KitKat) that the S3 mini doesn't have and will not get (officially) as well as having a Gorilla Glass screen (which is probably tougher than the Samsung screen). The S3 mini also doesn't have a notification LED if that's important, but does have capacitive buttons which means you don't lose screen area for on-screen buttons like the Moto G (but do lose the potential flexibility benefit of on-screen buttons, so neither is necessarily better - just a personal choice).

You pays your money and you takes your choice. Neither is better than the other and don't listen to anyone who says the Moto G is better value because it's faster, there are other factors besides performance which are important. Only you can decide which is better for yourself and that will depend on the features you require and how important they are to you. Just try to ignore the fanboys of any persuasion.

Of course the Moto E is about to be announced and looks a very tempting option for myself (or did until I found out it didn't have a flash - which is a deal-breaker for me).

Great phone for everything you would do on a smartphone just not for heavy gaming if that's what you want it for and the camera isn't all that great but decent, don't buy any of the other cheap models this is the best phone around this price feels even more than the price tbh

Depends on how much you need?

It depends on how you use it. But personally because of the lack of sd slot I wouldn't go for anything less than 16GB with this phone.

I have played pretty heavy games on mines, and seems to work great. what kind of games do you mean? I love the phone too, and totally agree about the feel of the phone, really does not feel cheap

...also the 8GB version only leaves about 4.5GB (If I remember correctly) free for your use. Unfortunately I can't tell you whether this is enough for you or not.

Maybe some good deals coming up for Moto G in the next few weeks as Moto E is soon to be released - some specs for Moto E if any one is intrested - 4.3-inch display, duel core, 1gb ram, 4gb storage + sd card slot, 5 mp rear camera (no flash or front facing camera) no info if battery is removable or not or price but sure i read somewhere motorola were aiming for around $100 droid-life.com/201…-e/

Are they not going backwards with a dual core?

Great phone, as most reviews state the 5MB camera let's it down slightly, that said I'm very pleased with my 16GB version. KitKat seems to make it faster, I wouldn't be concerned about the dual core, KitKat more than makes up for it. I had a galaxy S2 previously and the Motorola is so much better :-) heat added.

Man... why do they always have to leave something out that I need? The Moto G is out because of the storage (perhaps also a little large though). I don't really want an S3 mini because of the lack of a notification LED. And now this, Moto E, that I can't have because of the lack of a flash. All these stupid wee things that cost pennies and they leave them out. Drives me crazy.

Not a chance. Once you start installing games the space just vanishes, quickly. Normal apps, OK. Certainly not for any serious amount of gaming use though.

Seems strange to leave out flash as emerging markets such as India which presumably this phone is aimed at like phones with inbuilt torches: bbc.co.uk/new…381

This is an entry level phone aimed at emerging markets where the Moto G is to expensive so cheaper price, dual core + 1gb of ram it should still run ok for basic tasks i would think?

i got this for my son..16gb version. from tesco....cannot complain. about the price..handles everything well...its good and reliable....a good everyday phone to have...thumbs up..!!motorola .....i hope the moto E will be the same when it comes out next week....!!

I bought it for £100 from Asda some time ago, also Vodafone, O2 and others sell it for £99. Amazon had it for £95 a few days ago.

OOS.

Top notch phone, upgrading to kitkat at your own risk, vodafone sell it at £100, unlocking on ebay costs £2.

Just got this from ASDA, £110 on ASDA mobile. Phone came unlocked, three sim worked staight off, and android 4.4.2 installed by default. After all updates have ran, about 4.5gb storage left. No charger though, but has a USB cable.

First impressions after 5 minutes of using it, its nice. I sold an xperia play as android just laaaaaaged and bought a Nokia 520, which other than crap battery life, was pretty good for £70. I think if I came from a crappy android device to this I would have been amazed at what a £100 device can do, as it is I'm probably spoilt by win os and the 520 so its probably about what I expected. Screen however, is far nicer than the 520 and android seems to have come on leaps and bounds, its actually nice to use since the days of 2.3.

Off to find all the apps I've been missing out on!

In the "what's in the box" section it says "USB cable and power adapter" so I'm hoping that's a charger
