wait for the 27th when news of the g5s and g5s+ come out

Or if you've got prime, schedule the delivery for next week. That'll lock in the current price and give you enough time to cancel the order before dispatch if the price changes after annoucement of the new models.

Massive issue on this phone is the lack of compass. Being such a cultured gentleman, I like to follow Google Maps around on holiday and it's nigh on impossible without a proper compass in the phone.

Have been watching this for a week or so and contemplating buying @ £179.99 not expecting it to price drop. Even the girl @ my local carphone warehouse said at £179.99 it's a good price

Have some heat

There's a few videos on YouTube comparing both phones and the G5 performs better in terms of the camera.

Unless you want a reliable warranty or a dual SIM phone which can take a 2 SIM cards and a micro SD card at the same time. Depends what your priorities are

You have just listed 3 of the main priorities I look for in a mobile phone so the Moto G5 would be an easy winner for me.

That's why I bought the Moto Z Play last week for £226 even though I really wanted dual sim. I had even bought a mini silva compass on a keyring. No need for it now:)

can i ask which model xiaomi / for what price. and how are you finding it - i always felt the software & build quality of chinese phones was somewhat suspect, which was concerning for me especially with no warranty.

Just replaced my daughters aging Moto G2 for a Xiaomi Mi5/3gb/64gb for £177 from gearbest. Has duel sim but no sd slot but with 64gb of space that shouldn't be a problem. Really impressed so far. Feels and looks premium.
Just bought this phone last week (at £179.99 from Amazon), great phone and works well. Decent battery and camera. At this price its a good offer. Also Amazon are matching the 2 year warranty with JL (I have email to confirm this from them).

Motorola are Chinese, they're owned by Lenovo.

I've also got a 64gb Mi5 - excellent phone for the money. Minor gripes would be low light camera performance and battery life.

But for the £150 I paid for it? Amazing
Amazon do not refund price difference, even if one has bought this just a few days ago at the higher price
Good phone and at this price even better.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 owner here - excellent. Doesn't 'feel' any less well made than my Galaxy S6 which it has replaced.

No issues with the camera - I'm aware it's not as good as the S6 but nothing noticeably 'inferior' in terms of the shots I've taken.

Have installed Lineage OS on it.

£133 for the 4GB RAM / 64GB storage option.

16GB internal memory is pretty paltry these days.

My daughter in law got this a few weeks ago and is made up with it! Xiaomi are one of the world's largest smartphone companies and their build quality is up there with the best of them TBH. 4GB RAM/64GB internal memory, 5.5 FHD screen, 4100mAh battery, supports all the UK 4G networks, full metal build for 134 quid delivered. What's not to like?

Depends how you ask them! My son got a 25 quid refund on an Echo when it went down to 125 quid the day after he bought it. was refused initially but just said he was disappointed what with him being such a good customer. Worked like a dream!

i just tried online chat with them, even put through to the Supervisor! I have to return my current phone and order a new one! What a hassle for the P&P and time for just £15!
might try this - wouldn't have Xiaomi again - Redmi note 2 which failed after 4 months (bootloop) was told motherboard was faulty and after a fight managed to get a replacement which died after 3 months, couldn't be bothered with the hassle as the Chinese don't want to honour their warranties (supposedly 2 years!).
I just switched from an LGG4 to a G4, and I think you would be better off saving £40 and getting the G4 instead of the G5. Of course it depends on what size screen you prefer. But the G4 is fast as hell, throws anything I have at it, and I can't see how the G5 could be that much of an improvement other than aesthetics.

I have the 2GB version and its brill but only paid 89 pound for it new from John Lewis after massive cock up on the order there end and 3 delivery' later as they kept sending to wrong store for collection so i got massive cashback from them and dont forget 2 year warranty as well with john lewis

I have a moto e second generation which does have an sd slot but it seems you cant transfer apps to the card. So yes space would be important but surely if it is all on internal memory wont that clog the phone and slow it down?

When my mum bought her moto phone last year, the staff at the Speke CPW/Curry's store actually told her not to buy it from them but to buy online. I was a bit annoyed as she'd taken ages to find the one she wanted. We did get it direct from Moto online in the end for the same price due to a deal plus she was able to choose her own colour and have it engraved with her name so she was happy. I guess we either had very helpful and honest staff of just staff who hated their job and the company they work for - from the look of them at the time I think it was the latter.
This dual-SIM version of the phone enables you to get a good deal on a calls/text-only SIM, and another good deal on a data-only SIM, even mixing contract / PAYG / or 30-day SIMs to get a really good saving on your mobile bill.
Just buy an iphone then the job's done
