Does this have a gyroscope sensor? I didn't see it listed in the specs but surely it comes with one for use with VR apps and games? Looks like a decent deal but only if they haven't skimped on the gyro.

The gyroscope and accelerometer are there, but as before the compass remains missing.
Was sold on the phone until I found out the compass was missing. Such a stupid decision to skip out on this basic feature. Come on Motorola get your head out your ass. Oh wait, you can't even tell your facing your ass.
5GS coming soon to John Lewis for £229 (phone only) with 2 year warranty.
But the Plus model is the better buy due to its higher specification.

gsmarena.com/mot…php says the plus has a compass again.

Hmm, according to a Motorola staffer forums.lenovo.com/t5/…427 gsmarena is wrong, and the non-US plus doesn't have a compass. Sorry for the confusion.

The compass component must cost pennies when bought in bulk, it's a very annoying to ommit it but some clever bean counter in Lenovo has decided they can save half a million pennies by leaving out the compass as the phone (mostly) works without it....I can understand cost cutting like this on bottom of the range but this is middle range pricing and a pain in the behind.

This is the Alan Sugar school of engineering, build something properly by an engineering team then remove as many parts as possible before it stops working, then sell it to an unsuspecting public.

Absolutely spot-on with the Alan Sugar sentiment. I remember looking inside an Amstrad VCR. It was almost empty inside where it was devoid of components. Totally shoddy, excremental build quality.

Why is this deal.cold? Asking cos.interested

I wondered that myself, bearing in mind you are getting a half decent set of cans thrown in for free and for roughly the same price as everyone else is selling this phone, albeit without the headphones. If the cold voters can explain your rationale please, we would be extremely interested to know why.

I'm ordering one, getting a price match at £246.67 (Kikatek) and still receiving the headphones.

Thanks OP, hot!
I wonder whether Clove accepts personal callers as I live locally.
It says on their website that personal callers cannot be accepted at that address.

Edit: Just finished my order, £257.47 (with headphones) and next day delivery.

Although not yet available from Motorola UK and Amazon, a few UK websites have been offering a UK version of the Moto G5S Plus for sale since 24th August. They are the following suppliers: Kikatek, Lambda Tek and this one. As you can appreciate with a new release, supplies are usually very limited in the very early days with supply outstripping demand. On the Amazon website, the alternative suppliers were listed as having stock, then disappeared after a day or two. It is expected that stock of this item should become more widely available in the next week or two...
